I studied archaeology at university of Liverpool and completed PhD but there was little support from either the school or lecturers for the research students to get through the degree or to increase their employability.
For example, there was no teaching assistant opportunities available within the school and this means no further career path in the field unless you are lucky enough to find another way in.
Also, I had the impression that the supervisors/lecturers were not very much interested in students experience or teaching itself and I remember a lot of us were actually scared of them. For example, if we failed to answer their questions during the class, they often got angry and told us we should have known this by now.
I do not recommend the school of Archaeology and Egyptology at UoL if you seriously want to find a job in the field or want to enjoy the student experience.
