The University of Birmingham, the world in a campus

I came to the UK to study at the University of Birmingham as an International student. This was my very first experience in a campus-based university and with an English teaching, learning and grading method. It could have been a shocking experience but it was not the case. During my first semester, I adjusted to this new studying environment. Hopefully, Birmingham and especially the University of Birmingham are very diverse, culturally speaking. This university is well known for inclusivity, with its multicultural staff and students, so you will never feel a stranger.
On a lifestyle point of view, the University of Birmingham is a campus university away from the city but well connected with the centre thanks to regular buses and its own train station called, not by chance – University station. I lived my first year in one of the newest university-owned student accommodation wings and it was a good choice. The area surrounding the University has everything a student will need and it’s close enough to the city via bus.

The UoB has a huge variety of facilities, the humanities centre is the oldest but the study centre, the New Library and the science/engineering pools are very recent and up to date building. Even the oldest units have plenty of media facilities where to work and print your materials.

The student of any level is followed by a class tutor and there are specific departments in the case the student might need specific support whether the problem is related to health, personal matters or finance.
I feel I had everything I needed and I found the support I was looking for while I was away from family and I knew nobody there.
The prices are increasing in my opinion, though. I suggest making use of all the support, workshop, job fair and seminars to build your employability which is a key strength of this University.

Even though my sector has a high competition, a degree from the UoB has a higher value.
