Studying International Relations at the University of Glasgow has equipped me with a unique outlook on the world, although I am currently sitting my exams to mark the end of my first year it has been an experience that has encouraged me to think independently and view concepts through a critical manner which will not only aid you throughout your time at University but will enable you to excel following graduation.

Throughout the program you are exposed to a broad range of theories and an interesting selection of cases and crises to analyze and formulate opinions and solutions on, this is often facilitated with group discussions allowing you to express your line of argument in a free and inclusive environment. Additionally, lectures are both pre-recorded and delivered live allowing you to access and watch the content at your desired comfort.

Professors are of a high-quality standard and offer exceptional guidance on how to further engrave yourself in your studies. Often recommending books, articles or podcasts to assist in nourishing ideas within you. They are all willing to provide support when needed and from what I have witnessed go out of their way to build rapport with students.

Outside of the engaging but overwhelming academia, there is a wide range of politically associated activities to engage in as a student, whether that be through an ideological society or partaking in the debates hosted. What stood out for me, in particular, was the external lecture series in which speakers were invited to share their thoughts on contemporary issues on a weekly basis. This in essence allows you to bridge together the theoretical proponents of International Relations with the current system.

All in all, I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey at the University of Glasgow thus far and the abundance of opportunities available to you as a Political Science Student and I look forward to the travels ahead.
