The location of the uni is near the city centre, library and supermarkets which was very convenient for broke students who couldn’t afford taxi/bus fare. The nightlife left much to be desired as alcohol was expensive and the dancefloor was incredibly cramped. The halls of residence was actually quite pleasant. The ensuite bathroom was big enough for two people at a time and the cleaners came around regularly often leaving us encouraging notes to do well in our exams. The modules for the most part were relevant and we had a lot of choice in the Journalism route we wanted to go down e.g. radio, broadcast, newspaper etc. However, the professors lacked professionalism at times and brought their own personal drama to the classroom which made things awkward. On multiple occasions, our professors simply did not turn up to scheduled lectures. Uni was a great general experience, but I wouldn’t recommend Staffs Uni if you want to study Journalism, you’re better off completing online courses and saving your £9k a year.
