The course was extremely engaging and the lecturers were very well knowledgeable; experts in the field. I didn’t have any subject-specific knowledge prior to starting the course and found that the majority of my class had worked or studied within the industry, which worked to their advantage. I found the course difficult to gain a grasp of at first because of this, thus had to spend a great deal of my time learning the terms being used and understanding industry jargon as well as terminologies I wasn’t aware of.
The university itself is an extremely diverse one, with some statistics showing that up to 70% of students have a minority background. The support staff were extremely empathetic and very supportive.
The university’s students’ union boasts an array of active societies and there is definitely something for everyone! Would definitely recommend SOAS for anyone looking for the perfect combination of student activism, passionate lecturers and just all-around fun!
