The best knowledge: I’m an international student, and the staff has been really helpful. eager to ensure that everyone feels involved. Great people and nice facilities, but the timetables might be better and more assistance should be offered
View moreThe university is made more excited by its faculty, facilities, and the cordial relationships between its administration and professors. Course modules, course descriptions, and opportunities are all incredibly fascinating.
View moreI’ve loved the first two years of my programme at the university of Sheffield studying BA Geography. It’s been the best two years of my life, making friends for life, moving to a brand new city and travelling the world on field trips.
View moreMy experience at the University of Sheffield was enjoyable from start to finish. I received support from staff that helped me enrol in my programme, obtain my visa to have the right to study in the UK and give me all the information necessary that allowed me to find adequate accommodation. The PhD programme at my department is one of the best in the world and I was impressed with the world impact that takes place at the university. I was able to attend lectures and talk with key academics in my area, and these interactions allowed me to enhance my own research project. The only thing I would suggest is that the University should standardise the activities and expectations that supervisors and PhD students need to comply with. The University of Sheffield is international and I was able to meet people from all over the world. I think that my experience and the degree I obtained in Sheffield have also opened a lot of doors in terms of job prospects.
View moreThe best thing about Sheffield is it is easy to adjust to. When I moved to Sheffield for the first time, I was extremely nervous and worried, but the university offered me much support to help me adjust. On the study, students may have a meeting with our tutor weekly to discuss study progress. I can express any ideas and gain recognition from tutors. If I need some help, I would send emails to my tutor and get replies quickly. Importantly, each tutor would give me feedback after submitting assignments. Furthermore, there are plenty of job opportunities including placements, part-time jobs and internships. You could gain helps and guidance from career advisers, containing profile building and interview performance support. Besides, graduates can also enjoy many services for up to 3 years, such as library admission and job centre support.
Sometimes I felt stressed when several assignments were arranged tightly, but eventually, I handled them well and got a great grade. Otherwise, I hope the university can offer more scholarship places to students.
In terms of student life, my first impression of Sheffield is cheap in price and convenient for living, compared with most cities in the UK. Students are satisfied with life here. There are many restaurants from different countries, so students can eat food from their own country when they feel homesick. In particular, we could enjoy our meals in the canteens with different styles or cafes on campus. In my mind, our university pays attention to education rather than merely focusing on grades. For example, the student union offers many activities to students, like a day trip, and classes with hobby development. Students are happy to study at the University of Sheffield.
In my opinion, our university is very international. Internationalism is put into the heart of everything at Sheffield. The University of Sheffield is engaged in numerous research projects with international impact and has successful research partnerships with leading universities around the world. Besides, we are able to make many friends from different backgrounds.
Through my MA study at the University of Sheffield, I have learned a great deal of valuable knowledge and skills. I reach my full potential, understand what my strengths are, and have a clear career framework. All of these cannot separate from the school. I really recommend our university to others.
Sheffield provides three libraries for students to study and search for materials. These libraries are very efficient and provide students with a quiet learning atmosphere. However, teachers often strike, so that students’ learning progress lags behind, which needs to be improved.
View moreSheffield is big enough of a city that you can meet loads of new people from all over the country and yet still be able to walk everywhere. The uni facilities are fab and the SU has been voted no.1 in the country for years (it hosts really fun nights out that cater to everyone’s tastes). Loved my 3 years there and really miss living in the city!
