Psychology is the favourite science for students who want to get into the depths of human feelings. This is considered to be the science of mind and behaviour. More specifically, psychology wants to explore the way people think, act, and feel, by appealing to the emotional side of people.
Passion can lead students to choose this specialisation. It is not considered a difficult one, but it is not very easy to approach, as the theoretical elements of the discipline are combined with the practical ones.
After studying Psychology, students choose to specialise in a particular sub-field. Depending on their preference, they can choose between Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Comparative Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Personality Psychology and many others.
Psychology is a great opportunity to get to know each other better and to get to know others. Thus, students who are looking to understanding human behaviour, feelings and mind gain an inside vision of what these notions really mean and what determines people to make certain decisions and act under different circumstances.
The employment rate among Psychology graduates has grown in recent years. Salaries are satisfactory, and young people can focus either on psychological services in schools, hospitals, treatment centres, clinics, depending on the specialisation chosen. Furthermore, Psychology graduates can integrate a career in social media, marketing, and advertising, as they understand best the reasons why people choose to make decisions according to what they see in real life.
In the four years of Bachelor studies, graduates acquire the necessary knowledge to practice Psychology, initially learning the underlying theoretical notions. These notions become an important starting point in their career, seeing later how practice blends very well with theory. It should be noted that on the labour market, students who hold a Bachelor’s degree are much more appreciated and have an advantage over those who follow simple courses.
A Master’s program usually lasts between 2 and 3 years, coming as a complement to the Bachelor’s courses. Master courses have a much more loaded curriculum and a great deal of information. A Doctoral program is dedicated to students who want to do research in Psychology in various institutes or to become teachers. This has a duration of between 5 and 7 years.
University of St Andrews has a very special charm. From the city, to the food to the people. It touches the soul and makes you want to stay here just a bit more longer! You won’t regret choosing to study here.
View moreSt Andrews is such a tiny place, but that is the reason for its tight knit community. I have met my best friends and literally don’t want to leave! Facilities in general, including accommodations and lecture theatres, are to a great standard. I have loved every part of my studies so far, and have made great connections with some lecturers. It’s so easy to connect with people because there is such a diverse group of students in the town. St Andrews is fondly known as the “bubble”, which can easily feel a bit small, however it’s also super easy to get to Dundee and Edinburgh to escape uni life for a day! I would recommend this uni to anyone and will always thank myself for choosing this place to study and spend 4 years of my life at.
View moreStudent life at St. Andrews is really fulfilling and wholesome! It is a close-knit community and very supportive of international students. There are numerous clubs and societies that are very inclusive
View moreSt. Andrews is called the bubble and rightly so. It’s like a home away from home. Everyone here is extremely helpful and it provides one with everything you could ask for from a fulfilling university experience.
View moreStudying at St Andrews has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I now understand why we’ve been ranked #1 on student satisfaction. It’s close to impossible to be sad in a place like St Andrews, it’s like you’re living in a painting. Since it’s a student town, it’s not hard to make friends and it was really easy to settle in. Apart from finding a new love for learning, I have found myself growing on a personal level as well. There’s something for everyone here and I cannot recommend it enough.
View moreSt Andrews is an experience I am so thankful for. From my first year, the transition to a different country was so easy as the student body is very welcoming. Most of the lecturers, especially in the Psychology and Management department go out of their way to help you even for the smallest of matters. I used to do Economics as well but dropped it due to the rigid course structure and more unapproachable faculty. The university provided student accommodation is very well furnished and helps provide a great sense of community, especially as a new student. However, the residential prices are quite steep if you want to stay central in St.Andrews. One of my favourite things about this uni are the traditions like May Dip and Raisin, which really bring together the uni experience and the many many balls and events that help alleviate the slight boredom one may feel due to living in a small town. In that aspect, St. Andrews is secluded, having very few shopping options and doesn’t even have a train station close by, which makes travel a bit tough.
