A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.
Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.
The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.
One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.
Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.
Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.
Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.
Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.
Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. However, their duration could extend to 4 years if students choose to spend a year in industry between their second and third year, which is a popular option among the student community. Setting placement opportunities apart, the duration of a Management degree depends on three main factors – country, mode of study (part-time or full-time) and degree level. Below are listed the approximate durations of Management degrees in the most popular countries for Higher Education in Europe:
This is perhaps the main difference from Italy. Therefore, it is very important to allocate your time correctly. At first, I myself made this typical mistake: I thought that I would write in a day, but in the end I didn’t sleep at all, I sat all night in the library and did the assignment, and at eight in the morning I went to class. If in the exam you are noticed with cheating, this is immediately fail. In the best case, you will be given the opportunity to rewrite the work, but for the rewritten work, the student cannot receive more then 40 percent. Therefore, all students are motivated to write well the first time. Another important requirement is that you must always adhere to the academic language, you must keep within strict limits, otherwise the scores will be greatly reduced.
View moreI visited Newcastle university as part of the partners programme, and I am due to start university there this month. The PARTNERS programme was a great initiative- Newcastle university makes their students feel at home whether they are home students or international. I was really pleased with their event.
View moreDigital business in e-marketing is a relevant degree for anyone who is passionate in the business industry. It covers the relevant topics and subjects necessary for a role in business management and marketing. Most of the facilitators are highly qualified and experts in their field. View moreI wasn’t 100% sure what to expect from this course, but some of the modules went over my expectations, some were below. Most of the tutors are good and know how to deliver classes in a fun and interesting way, but there was a tutor whose level of English and accent feels not suitable for the master’s degree tutor and his module was very hard and he didn’t know how to deliver the classes, it felt like he didn’t know how to teach. However, so far successfully I finished the first semester and I am looking forward to new modules and new lecturers.
Overall I would recommend this university and course.
Overall, the lectures are very interesting and give you the chance to enhance your knowledge through real-life examples. The university facilities are very good and modern. Most of the lecturers are very good and know how to make the lectures interesting and interactive. However, I had a bad experience with one of them because he wasn’t making any effort to help us with the module and the assignment and he didn’t know how to deliver the teaching material, so I was struggling a lot.
View moreThe university is located in the city centre. Newcastle University has a good reputation in the UK and high ranking in the world. The facility of business school looks modern and clean. The teachers will support anything you need.
View moreI enjoyed the opportunity to do a year out before my final year, studying in Toulouse. The Library was really easy to work in, always social and hardworking. The course was very collaborative so working with the course-mates was the best way for me to learn.

I also loved living in Newcastle, Jesmond the student area has loads of shops / bars and restaurants and it’s a short distance to town. It always felt super safe & friendly, the city isn’t too big but there is still loads going on!
View moreFully enjoyed my three years at Newcastle. Having studies a relatively new course with Geography and Business the Combined Honours school was well run with heads who were there to support us. I loved the facilities then all being brand new. Also I had the opportunity to go away with the University which was a good experience too.
View moreI have enjoyed being a part of the Newcastle business school with good facilities. However, the help they give with regard to placement is far less than they advertise. Having said that, it is an enjoyable degree
