Newcastle university is one of the most favoured among international students. The university not only offers a world-class education, but also an incredible and productive student life. Each week there are different volunteering sessions and leisurely activities that make academic life a little less boring (ahem). I really like the ncl award scheme which gives student volunteers accreditation for the hours they’ve spent volunteering. The Newcastle University Students’ Union (NUSU) has many (and I mean lots) different societies and sports clubs for students to join. Did I mention the student media? The NSR (Newcastle Student Radio), NUTV and The Courier (Newcastle uni’s independent newspaper) offer students valuable experience and skills, of course it’s fun.
Of course, I can’t just talk about extracurricular activities. As a PGT (postgraduate taught/masters) Archaeology student who decided to study something vastly different than his undergraduate course (Electronics Engineering, I know…what a huge leap), I’ve found my personal tutor and lecturers to be immensely helpful and supportive. The course modules are very attractive, with a blend of academia and hands-on practical work.
