I am a Combined Honours: Education, History and Japanese student at Newcastle University. The Combined Honours Programme at Newcastle University is fantastic. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help if you encounter any issues. Since Combined Honours is composed of students with different subject combinations, it is very diverse and certainly an interesting and fun environment to be in!
At the start of of the degree we were given the option to study modules from two or three courses at the University. I chose Education, History and Japanese. The course enabled me to learn skills in three different areas and combine them in ways I haven’t imagined before. History has been particularly useful in helping me deepen my understanding of Japanese history and culture. The Japanese language classes have helped me significantly improve my Japanese. I used to be a beginner and now I can hold everyday conversations and understand academic language. Education has taught me how educational institutions work. I also learned a lot about educational psychology. We discussed all kinds of interesting issues in class.
I have learned a range of valuable skills throughout my degree and I am sure these will be useful in the future! I highly recommend this course!
