One of the best things about my programme so far is the structure which is being used to work through the course. We are using block structure and completing 2 different units at once. This is a good structure as it means we have the perfect workload. While there is plenty of reading to do and independent study to work through, it is a manageable amount as long as you are able to structure and make use of your time effectively which is an important skill throughout life and is useful to practice from now. A main downside to the course however is the lack of support we recieve. Although im sure this is done with good intention, we are expected to be far too independent in my opinion considering the amount of change new students are undergoing. I feel as though we are just expected to know what we are doing and even sometimes when you try to seek support you are met with a ‘find out for yourself’ sort of attitude. I understand this promotes independence and may help us develop skills that are needed for working life however i think considering the course has just began we could have done with a bit of extra support just to help everyone settle in and understand exactly what is expected of them.
