I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term at LSE. This is a university that really cares about the student experience. We have excellent facilities, regular careers fairs, as well as attentive professors who hold frequent drop-in sessions and respond to their emails promptly. We also have lots of extra-curricular activities and societies we can get involved in. On top of my course, I also take Spanish lessons, attend web design workshops and go to various public lectures as well as staying active in the Debating Society. I also love how international the university is, with students coming from all over the world. I have made friends from India, Germany, South Korea, Uganda, Guatemala and Canada, to name but a handful of countries. In fact, I believe I am one of only 3 English people on my course! This is particularly great for me studying Politics, because I get to hear about different political systems in different national contexts, giving me a global perspective. Finally, though I have largely positive things to say about LSE, I do wish we had a few more contact hours. As a social science student, I do not expect a lot of time with professors, as the course is mostly reading-based. However, it does feel like we’re not getting a lot of value for our money when we only have roughly 9 hours of lectures and seminars a week.
