A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.
Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.
The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.
One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.
Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.
Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.
Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.
Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.
Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. However, their duration could extend to 4 years if students choose to spend a year in industry between their second and third year, which is a popular option among the student community. Setting placement opportunities apart, the duration of a Management degree depends on three main factors – country, mode of study (part-time or full-time) and degree level. Below are listed the approximate durations of Management degrees in the most popular countries for Higher Education in Europe:
Beautiful campus in a great location! Everything at London Business School is perfect I couldn’t be more happy than I am now. At the London business school, you receive outstanding support from the professors. Teachers are highly involved and if you score high in a subject you will be invited to interview in a related top tier company. My strategy professor helped me secure a summer internship in Kearney’s London Office. Also, everyone is so friendly and the LBS is very powerful. You can easily find an alumni that is willing to help you you.
View moreI liked this programme for three main reasons. Firstly, the sense of community you get over the short (1-year) MIM programme is outstanding. The school provides students with daily opportunities to get together and you get really well integrated in a matter of days. Second, the school’s utmost priority is your employement. LBS possesses a great career centre that constantly pushes you to look for job opportunities and provides you with great interview trainings. Finally, I believe that only 5% of the students come from the UK, meaning that the school is fully international.
On the other hand, from a knowledge perspective, I would not expect to learn much from the main courses if you already have a Bachelor in Business or Economics. The secondary courses you can choose from are, however, really handy.
Thanks to its broad focus, this programme excels at preparing you for careers in Consulting or Investment Banking. It is also well recognized worldwide.
To sum up, I would recommend this programme for international outgoing individuals who would like to pursue a career in Consulting or Investment Banking.

View moreLondon Business School is an amazing experience. It is as good as I expected it to be. Every university talks about diversity, but LBS truly lives upto its reputation. In no other school would you find such diverse nationalities, backgrounds, work experience. An opportunity to network with such a wide and strong network is what I like the most about this school.
Would strongly recommend it to anyone who can make it to LBS. It is not just about one or two years of studies, it is about becoming a part of something much much bigger. It is about becoming a part of an ever growing elite club.
Networking is the first thing that strikes me when I think of a business school. Most networks you build here tend to be long- lasting and the individuals I have met here provide for exactly that. It’s been slightly more than a month into the course and the friendships I have forged seem to date back a long time. There are all types of people here, naturally, due to such a multicultural group of people, that it becomes highly important to be very open-minded. It makes it a steep learning curve and that is what you are here for. The college puts you in very uncomfortable situations with highly unreasonable workloads, but that really makes me step out of my protective cocoon, and that would make me grow as an individual.
View moreThe school is really dynamic.
Their resources are really good.
The career team is really supportive.
You will be able to meet different kinds of people, involving in so many different clubs.
Highly recommended
Business schools are known to have a very competitive cohort, but at LBS peers are really down to earth. You can always find people who would be willing to help you with anything. Time management is of paramount importance as don’t want to go out regretting missed opportunities. The college provides numerous avenues, but it solely depends on you as to how you make the most out of it. You have to hit the ground running from the very first day of the course if you want to catch up with the intensity of the overall course. Classrooms are modern and spacious and everything is digital, which brings everything on your fingertips. Your phone is your best companion here, without it you are handicapped. Overall the course at LBS is highly recommended and should be a top choice without a doubt.
View moreThe value that LBS adds to your profile is unmatched. The college provides great networking and other opportunities. There is so much to do in so little time, that you almost feel guilty when you relax. There is a constant fear of missing out on something. There is something for everyone here. The city has a homely vibe and seems like a home away from home. The attention to diversity just adds to the already overwhelming experience. The overall package that LBS offers, makes it the best option among others
View moreLondon Business School truly believes in its saying of “Minds Alive”. With students from over 90 nationalities coming together there is always something to learn from your colleagues and helps broaden your though process. The professors aren’t the best when it comes to teaching but the peer group is outstandingly helpful at every step. LBS believes in integrates people from all nationalities and courses over the course and hence organise fun activities such as Away Day to know your study group or Sundowners (alternate Thursdays) so that you can interact with people from all the streams. Career Centre is abnormally brilliant with helping build your CV/Cover Letter and guide you everyday into getting your dream job.
All in all if you want to develop yourself and be a true global citizen this is the perfect place, but if you are looking for academics, this is not one of the best.
