The university has great facilities and gives you opportunity to do a wide range of things. Teachers are highly qualified and they are worried about students learning. International staff helps you with anything you need. However, it could be more inclusive with international students.
View moreSurrounding area is lovely and I had a great time with friends living in Aigburth but the lecturing (I was there for 4 years and so had many lecturers) are really quite bad. There are similar complaints amongst many of my colleagues in different departments in sport, business, and psychology. I cannot speak about other departments. Trying to get even rudimentary feedback through email or face to face was a complete no-no from many lecturers.
Another problem was that one lecturer had a good level of English but made so many mistakes it was often difficult to understand her point. More worrying were the all too frequent occasions when we questioned anything that we did understand she refused to give an answer and instead changed the topic. I understand that lecturers see themselves as researchers not teachers but a total of care (and sometimes a worrying lack of ability to answer questions) was very worrying.
View moreIts a good university, lecturers are down to earth and willing to listen and work with you. Living on Aigburth campus is a pain due to terrible buses schedules. Living in Liverpool as a University city is great due to plenty being aimed at students.
View morelove this uni its a beautiful setting and my tutors have been so supportive with helping me do my dissertation
the library is okay it could do with more spaces to study privately
food options are good but is expensive
resources are really good, there are careers advisors and library learners to help you improve writing
The university is mainly situated in Childwall, about 4 miles away from the city center. However, there is a separate Campus in Everton, not far from the Anglican cathedral and City center adjacent from the open campuses that of Liverpool and Metropolitan Universities. The City Campus is by far the most vibrant and exciting place to be a part of, this may be due to the convenient location which makes it much easier to get to the Bars and nightlife that Liverpool is famous for.
Overall the University is an established English university that is very faith orientated, mainly Christian. Facilities and resources are in abundance at the very aesthetically pleasing libraries, so if you are serious about the academic study, it could be the place for you. But the Arts facilities is where the University really excels, from Fringe Stages, Recording Studios to an International theatre complex you cannot complain that your money did not buy you the opportunity to gain real-life industry skills.
