Currently, University of Hull ranks top 20 universities in the UK, according to Times Higher Education latest report.
This is due to the inflow of international students like me who the university is happy to welcome.
When I first arrived the UK for my studies, I remember being picked up from Heathrow airport by the University of Hull welcome team and travelling to Hull with a bunch of other international students from all over the world.
One other reason I love university of Hull is the fact that it offers a wide range of job opportunities to students who are open to work wjile studying.
View moreI am thoroughly enjoying my experience at the University of Hull. I have found it an incredibly inclusive environment and a great place to meet people from across the country and a range of backgrounds whilst studying. What’s more, my course has exceeded my expectations in its content. The lecturers take a very practical approach towards learning – particularly in creative writing. Students are encouraged to bring their work to every session to be peer assessed or read by lecturers themselves for constructive feedback. This has really helped me develop my style of writing at a pace much faster than I had expected.
The faculty for arts, cultures and education takes a hands-on approach towards teaching and students are encouraged to meeting with the lecturers and academic support tutors as often as they feel is necessary to support their learning. Staff are easy to communicate with through email and in my experience, are always quick to respond to any queries.
One of my favourite aspects of university is being a member of the netball society. It has enhanced my university experience beyond expectation and I would encourage any prospective student to get involved from the beginning of the year. I hadn’t previously played much of the sport before but there is a team for every ability, from beginner right up to BUCS level, playing other universities from around the country. Even if you are not interested in playing the sport itself, you can opt to be a social member, joining the team for weekly socials and making friends across the university.
The University also offers a Job Teaser platform, where students can find part-time work, work experience, internships and even graduate jobs. I have found this system extremely helpful in looking at work experience prospects during summer and for information on part-time work to supplement my studies.
