Falmouth University was my first choice when applying through UCAS, and I got accepted through clearing. The team was swift in getting my application through, and I was coming to uni within a month of the first application being sent! ^-^
The campus is stunning. Depending on which course you take, you go to a different campus. There is one based in Penryn and another based in Falmouth itself. Both of them are wonderful. The campus focuses on large open forested or green areas, with many places for students to sit inside and out. There is a vast range of plants to look at, all amplified by the sea air as both campuses are next to the ocean.
Each campus has its library and different groups to help you, depending on your questions. There is also a considerable range of student-led activities for anyone and everyone to get involved with.
I’m currently in my second year of the Games Design: Writing 3-year course, and there have been ups and downs, but the teachers are always ready to help and super kind. There are also support desks if you need additional help and don’t know where to look for it.
The biggest issue, however, is the travel. If you are only based on one campus, it’s alright. However, my course flies between both campuses, and the only way to travel is by bus. This wouldn’t be an issue if the prices of bus tickets were fixed, or as students, we get free travel, but this isn’t the case. When I started one year ago, an all-day child ticket was £1, now it’s £3 and still going up. The latest price update was only a week ago. We thought it would go down once the tourists left, but that didn’t happen.
All in all, this university is a wonderful place to go. I don’t have much to say about it. I would highly recommend Falmouth to be on your radar if you are looking for a good Uni. <3
