UOE such an incredible university with a strong sense of community and such lovely scenery. Due to being a campus university there is such a ‘uni’ feel, making the town feel like home away from home.
View moreI started university with little understanding of what I was doing and what my plans were for the future. Now that I have finished my first year, I look back to all the things I have learnt and opportunities that have been possible for me. In academic terms, the university has allowed me to submerge in my studies and learn so many new things and concepts that I can apply to my daily life. It is academically challenging but the support from my lecturers, seminar leaders and personal tutor has allowed me to develop my understanding of sociology and myself. Outside of the academic realm, the university offers an amazing campus filled with green spaces, hangout spots, restaurants, etc. Located in a small and safe city, walking around alone at night is completely safe, especially compared to other cities. There are many societies and clubs, and joining several of them opened the way for many of my friendships. Besides the number of sports and social societies, which I recommend joining, there are many academic, business-related and other types of societies which will empower you and bring you closer to internships and placements. I cannot recommend UoE enough!
View moreGreat location with brilliant facilities. Very sporty and able to balance studying and exams with sport commitments. Gym is huge , definitely a top pick for those who love their sport (rugby in particular)
View moreDuring my time as a master student at UoE, I have thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere the university offered as well as its community feel.
Within the university buildings, I have enjoyed the proximity of all I could ask for, study spaces, coffee shops, food places, gyms and various team sports facilities. Also the teaching staff was overall fantastic. approachable and professional.
The University is located on a hill, which can be taxing at times and problematic to access for some. But many accessibility efforts have been made, even in the short amount of time I have studied there.
The town centre is also nice and has plenty of cute coffee shops and restaurants. However, safety problems have been reported which is I think important to note.
Overall, if you are looking for a nice community of academically driven individuals who also know how to have fun, I would recommend UoE.
