Law at Cardiff University

If you’re into learning about global legal issues, shocking injustices and exploring the ins and outs of an ever-changing, riveting Criminal Justice System, then Law at Cardiff University is the course for you. Whilst studying Law at Cardiff, you’ll have the opportunity to learn in-depth about the processes behind finding justice for the innocent and convicting the guilty. In addition to this, through the choice of optional modules, you can get involved by joining the infamous Cardiff University Innocence Project whereby you’ll be required to help current convicts attempt to seek justice for wrongful convictions or take part in the Bar Mock Trial. In regard to the teaching and support, you will receive; this varies amongst modules. You will find that some module tutors are incredibly helpful and keen to ensure you are supported in every way throughout your studies. Inevitably, some tutors are not as involved. On the whole, Cardiff University provides a wide array of support for its students. The teams within student support and wellbeing include careers and employability, counselling, health and wellbeing, disability and dyslexia service, global opportunities team, international student support and money and funding advice service.
Some would say, if you’re looking to stay out dancing until the early hours of the morning, Cardiff City Centre is the place to be. Cardiff’s nightlife is widely known as one of the UK’s liveliest. However, if you’re looking for something more sophisticated, it also offers multiple fine dining restaurants and bars. If you’re in need of something to wear for your night on the town, you’ll be sure to find something amongst the 150 shops St David’s Shopping Centre has to offer.
As Cardiff University is the only Russell Group University to offer both courses currently required to qualify as a barrister or solicitor (the Bar Professional Training Course and the Legal Practice Course), this provides students with an opportunity to stay at Cardiff to complete their entire legal education, thus enabling further career prospects and higher rates of employability. Cardiff also offers great placement opportunities to gain valuable graduate-level experience as a paralegal. This includes case management, legal research and legal writing. Cardiff University consistently provides its students with opportunities to better themselves through educational opportunities.
Now in my final year of Cardiff University, I can say I have experienced all it has to offer. My time spent at Cardiff has been not only rewarding but has encouraged me to grow. I have become more confident, and social and met so many people who I can call my friends. Excitingly, I will be continuing my legal studies at Cardiff University to undergo the Legal Practice Course. I am incredibly grateful to return to Cardiff and have them support me to fulfil my aspiration of becoming a solicitor.
