Cathays

Cathays is the area in Cardiff where all students live. It’s packed in the day, and alive at night. But there’s a lot more to it than just a friendly place for students to live as it is in fact quite the opposite. Nearly every day, there’s a fresh post in the facebook group Cardiff Overheard of a car window smashed, a man making a girl feel uncomfortable or at times much worse. Countless stories have emerged of men in the early hours of the morning ringing on girls doorbells and banging trying to force themselves inside their homes, honestly disgusting. I’d advise any fresher girl chosing a house in Cardiff to think carefully about who they’re living with, not out of enjoyment or who they’d have the most fun with, but unfortunately for safety reasons. It’s sad that the place where most of us live is so unsafe to be around alone especially as a girl, and it’s with regret that I give it such a bad rating.
