I have studied at Cardiff Met for the past 3 years and I can honestly say that I love the university. Here’s why:
Support:
I chose to come to Cardiff Met because of the supportive environment throughout the university. The lecturers know me by name and when I order coffee, the team at Starbucks know my usual order. Because Cardiff Met is a relatively small university, you see so many friendly faces around campus too which makes you feel genuinely at home and comfortable in your transition to university.
Location
The university is split between 2 campuses: Llandaff and Cyncoed. Llandaff campus is where I was based but most of the sports facilities are are NIAC on Cyncoed campus. The campus’ are not far from each other though and can be easier accessed by the bus (MetRider) that connected the two campus’ and the student accommodation. The university and student accommodation (typically for 1st years) are close to both university and the city centre which makes getting around Cardiff much easier!
Opportunities:
Cardiff Met is so much more than just studying for your degree. They have so many opportunities for career progression and an active SU with lots of clubs and societies to get involved with. Ultimately, how much you get involved with your SU is how much you’ll get back out of it.
Overall:
I’ve gained so much here from the sense of community and supportive environment provided by staff members and students. I’m really sad to be leaving and genuinely recommend this university to anyone who feels like having support and opportunities handed to them is right for them!
