    Good for future researcher

About study: I’m learning physics now and it’s not easy. The programme is designed for future researchers so you can learn basic theories, research skills, and basic computing skills as well. The workload is okay, but (I feel) you have to study really hard if you want to not just be able to deal with the exam but also really understand the principles behind. The university is supportive. We have supervision every week and my supervisors are all really helpful and nice. There’re also many talks on related topics.
About living: accommodation is provided by the college. My room is big, with a double bed, and it’s at the city centre. I like it. 😀
About dining: I usually eat in college’s hall so I don’t need to think about what to eat. That really saves my time. The price is fair, and the foods are good. My college has formal hall almost every day – a good chance to talk with different people.
About people here: all the people in the university I’ve met are very nice. No one is gonna judge you on how you live, so you can be yourself here.
    Plus: I like our gown!

What Life is Like at Cambridge

Cambridge’s unique environment allows you to be surrounded with many likeminded people who also have a similar work ethic and intense passion for their subject. It is a very competitive university but that allows for close friendships to be made because of these shared experiences. Although studying can be very stressful at times and the workload can be tough, the university offers good support systems and many extracurricular activates to take part in alongside your studies which is greatly encouraged to do. Despite the extremely intense nature of Cambridge, my degree has been incredibly rewarding and I have really enjoyed my time there.

    Review from MPhil student

For the university campus, I think the campus was big and we have a lot to do anytime. Infrastructure was good, meal was good, leisure was good. It seems like everyone around the city center is professional. Safe here.

For study and research, I love the dynamic flow of technical information and sound output from research. As an MPhil student, I don’t feel a lot of exchange with people from the other department or university, it is just from within the group or area.

It is good all way around. Ideal for class-based students but might not for research-based ones.

    Great university with great people

Cambridge is the one. Everyone is amazing and the atmosphere is smooth. The staff treat everyone equally and engage to the best of their abilities. My first year is over and I would do it all again. University is way better than college or sixth form. There’s more freedom especially to study where and when you want to. The food is top quality in the cafe, the tea is amazing and really creamy. I would recommend this university the people are not as stuck up as others think.

    Enjoyable so far

The collegiate system really helps build a good sense of community. The terms are only 8 weeks though and are intense but there’s still more than enough time for extracurriculars. The city isn’t very big but there’s always something to do.

A university with rich and strong entrepreneurial ecosystem

Cambridge is a magical place to be, lots of opportunities to develop yourself, meet people, contribute, and learn from the rich academic powerhouse. The collegiate system also provides a rich environment to meet, socialize, share ideas, and learn new things. I am happy I made the choice to come here. Cambridge will always be in my heart even after I must have left here.

    Amazing Opportunities

I really enjoyed my time at Cambridge, I grew a lot as a person and came away feeling prepared to enter postgraduate research. There are lots of extracurricular options and you’re surrounded by people who are like-minded and driven. The academic side does require a large amount of self-sufficiency and drive. You have the flexibility to guide your learning towards whatever interests you. You’re also being taught by the experts in your field which is awesome but it means that they haven’t necessarily been trained in best teaching techniques so it’s your responsibility to make the most of what they are offering you. For me, that system really worked and I learned a lot but if you’re the kind of person who wants a more guided approach the tutorial system may not be for you, as you’re expected to drive the sessions forward with your own questions.

    Quality of teaching and environment

I would absolutely recommend Cambridge. The quality of supervisions / lectures was outstanding for my course. The student living environment was also great – the college system made it very easy to build a community and make friends. The university provided everything needed for a productive work environment. The only thing is that the work is often very stressful and intense (with 8 week terms).
