is a quote you’re likely to see in any Bristol club. Bristol is filled with vibrancy – the street art, the people, the food. There is culture to be found anywhere and everywhere. But the one culture most affected by the university is the drug culture. In my experience, it is everywhere within Bristol student life. It is seen in the clubs, the flat parties, the accommodation floors. And that’s not being said to scare you, or as a deterrent. Because the university is aware, and they have excellent services in helping you. They work to ensure your safety. But it is important to be told in advance, so it doesn’t seem half as overwhelming, and easier to stay away from! Bristol has a drug problem, but the university works hard to provide the solutions.
View moreHey there! I study Theatre Studies at the University of Bristol. As a theatre student here, I’ve got to say, it’s pretty awesome.
First off, what I love about this program is that it strikes a perfect balance between being laid-back and challenging. Yeah, we dive deep into all kinds of theatre stuff, from Shakespeare to experimental performance art. But it never feels stuffy or overwhelming. The professors are super cool and down-to-earth, and they really know their stuff.
Oh, and the hands-on learning? It’s where the magic happens. We’re not just sitting in lectures all day; we’re actually getting our hands dirty (sometimes literally) in workshops, rehearsals, and productions. It’s like we’re living and breathing theatre 24/7, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
And let’s talk about the facilities. Bristol doesn’t mess around when it comes to giving us students what we need. We’ve got everything from swanky studios to high-tech performance venues. Plus, the library is like a treasure trove of theatre knowledge. Seriously, it’s a nerd’s paradise in there.
But what really sets Bristol apart is the sense of community. Everyone here is so passionate about theatre, and it’s infectious. We’re always bouncing ideas off each other, collaborating on projects, and just geeking out over our favorite plays and performances. It’s like one big, happy theatre family.
So yeah, if you’re thinking about studying theatre at Bristol, I’d say go for it. It’s a place where you can be yourself, push your boundaries, and become the theatre rockstar you were always meant to be. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Bristol gives a really good working experience, its students and lecturers are very responsive and it’s a lovely atmosphere to be in. It can sometimes be a bit daunting coming from a very working-class area, but uni here is an invaluable experience for me, I’ve met the most amazing group of people that outside on uni I would never have crossed paths with.
