2nd year BIMM Manchester
This course is clearly not worth the 9k a year it costs to take it and I would not recommend it to anyone else who may be interested in taking it. Firstly the course content was subpar and was very restrictive in terms of creativity, I believe that independent study from online materials would have covered the same amount and for minimal cost.
Secondly the support and leadership from those above was sorely lacking and I felt hindered by the poor communication over timetable changes and feedback as well as module delivery. This negatively impacted my performance. For example during first year , I was involved in a disagreement with my tutor over theory concepts and my input over this was not considered and this was never resolved in a professional manner and subsequently affected the teacher-student relationship.
I also believe that the culture at Bimm is not centered towards the student, which is definitely a reason to be cautious about taking this course.
Overall I would recommend avoiding investing time and money into this course as most course content can be learned online and the leadership and teaching is definitely not worth 9k
View moreBIMM institute is an amazing option for any music student that wants to take their craft to the next level! They provide amazing facilities including a venue that the students can use to perform. Students can request masterclasses from industry professionals. Many Alumni have gone on to work in the music industry achieving amazing feats. A few examples of this would be: George Ezra, Fontaines DC, Ella Mai and many others. Overall BIMM is a great choice for aspiring musicians to develop their careers and meet like-minded individuals.
View moreAlthough it is a good university overall with amazing musicians as tutors, sometimes it lacks a bit of a “push” to motivate students – obviously, this also has to come from the students themselves but I believe BIMM needs to have this more into consideration.
Whilst the facilities are good, there’s very limited space for rehearsals and for instrumentalists (especially drummers) to practice considering the number of students.
