I appreciated the quality of teaching at the University of Sussex, as the lecturers were knowledgeable and well-versed in their respective subjects. The MSc FinTech, Risk and Investment Analysis programme provided a strong theoretical foundation in finance, risk management and investment analysis.
However, I felt that the course could have offered more practical, industry-focused experience to help students transition into employment. I would have appreciated more exposure to financial market tools such as Bloomberg Terminal, visits to financial institutions, guest talks from industry professionals and opportunities to engage with real-world financial case studies. I believe these experiences would have made the programme more valuable in preparing students for careers in the financial sector.
Based on my experience, I would hesitate to recommend the programme in its current form to students who are looking for strong practical exposure and direct industry engagement alongside academic learning. I understand that internship opportunities are being introduced from 2027, which is a positive development, and I hope these changes will strengthen the programme and improve students’ career prospects in the future.
