Many universities ask for top grades, and unsurprisingly have a lot of students graduating with top grades. What Bangor does though, is take students with slightly lower grades, and turns them into students achieving top grades. The support available at Bangor is unbeatable. A lot of universities want you to prove what you can do for them, whereas Bangor University wants to show what it can do for you. If you go to Bangor, you will come out with a better result than you would get elsewhere. That gold award for teaching isn’t just for decoration. That’s its biggest selling point.
Bangor is quieter than city universities, so if you’re looking for a wide selection of clubs to go to on nights out, you’ll lose out compared to friends at those unis. But pretty much the whole town of Bangor is built around the University, so you won’t be short of places to eat and things to do. Bangor is particularly well known for its sport too, and most students seem to do at least one. The location is perfect for this, making it simple to do anything from sailing to orienteering. You’ll also find it easier to budget too, as Bangor is a lot cheaper than most other places. It’s also one of the only universities I’ve heard of where there are more houses than students, so landlords are much easier to deal with and rent is cheap as it gets.
So whilst I can’t fully recommend it to people looking for an exciting city type environment, I can fully recommend it to anyone looking to achieve their full potential at university. You won’t be bored, you will make friends and you won’t regret it.
