Overall, my experience at Aston has been positive so far. The University adapted well to the challenges of Covid-19 in ways that many others did not, providing clear structure and messaging regarding moving courses online during lockdowns, and now onto a “blended” approach. The lecturers are very knowledgeable in their subject areas, and several of my Economics lecturers have published textbooks or highly-regarded research pieces, which have also proved useful during the course. Student life is great, with a couple of pubs on campus and an overall nice environment with plenty of green space, football pitches and a new Students Union on site. The City Centre is also just minutes away, so everything you need is at your door.
View moreThe university provides an excellent selection of resources and facilities such as their online library which is exceptionally helpful in terms of exams and coursework. The lectures do an amazing job at delivering content and ensuring students are equipped with enough resources to succeed in exams and coursework. Student life is very pleasant, there are plenty of societies to join and meet new people which so far has been great. I currently enjoy my degree very much and find every aspect very interesting. In terms of what I don’t like, probably the fact that more study spaces may be beneficial. In terms of recommendations I would suggest offering more study spaces for students to study especially quite areas as it can get quite loud making it hard to study and possibly making the student union bigger to accommodate more people.
View moreAston has a great reputation for being a very diverse university which is one to admire. With lots of developments and opportunities to discover yourself with your peers, university life is pretty straightforward. I feel your experience at Aston will purely depend on yourself as a character, and your attitude to further education. Understand that just like any university you are in charge of your own workload, and the amount that you put in is the amount that you’ll get out of it.
Being right in the centre of Birmingham, Aston is ideal for a student looking for all the perks of living away from home at the location of a city. Everything is right at your doorstep so expect to enjoy yourself. The benefits of this university is that you will find likeminded people who also have a higher interest in some sort of success in life. To support this desire, Aston gives you access to all resources and programs to help you through your journey, you aren’t alone here, nothing is impossible here. For example, during my second year I applied for a mentor program to support my placement year, my mentor Inspired incredible confidence in me to pursue theres desires, and in addition I’ve found a professional friend for life.
The only disadvantage of Aston is that it’s a dated university. I personally feel that some of their equipment, facilities and main building doesn’t have a modern feel to it. But don’t be discouraged, Aston is a well respected university, but if you’re looking for the aesthetic facilities, Aston doesn’t offer this.
View moreIt has a range of opportunities, both social and academic. Lectures are good and it is easy to re listen to them with Aston replay, ensuring students aren’t behind on work. Lecturers always provide support when booked in to see them.
View moreUni life is fine. Seminars are very useful. Lectures & community lifestyle need more work. There are a lot of opportunities. Social life isn’t the best in the area and societies aren’t all that interesting.
View moreI would definitely recommend Aston University as attending here allows students to experience a great student life whilst also being on top of their work with the help of Aston and all the resources they have to offer. Aston do a great job at keeping in touch with their students and making sure everyone is up to date on any new notices or opportunities that arise.
View moreI have had a very positive experience in my first year at this university. I have found the staff very friendly, all content very engaging and felt I have been challenged throughout the year. One aspect that is particularly strong is the employability at Aston with all modules focusing on giving students hard skills to increase their employability. Only complaint would be some administrative problems such as delayed exam results and some issues with timetabling at the start of term.
