    prestige and education

This is an internationally recognized university, studying here is prestigious, and you will truly receive a high-quality theoretical foundation. The teachers are considered the best in the country, but of course, no one has cancelled out the human factor and the nature of teaching. My experience studying at the Faculty of Economics gave me a good foundation for statistics, but of course, everything is individual and depends primarily on your desire to learn.

Fundamental base and school of survival

Studying at KNU is a real challenge. I chose this university because of its status, and my expectations were generally met, although there were some nuances. The Red Building is certainly impressive in its history and aesthetics, but the real student life for most departments takes place in the buildings at VDNG. The atmosphere there is simpler, but cozy in its own way.

The university’s greatest asset is its environment. You’re constantly surrounded by very smart and ambitious students, which forces you to constantly strive for excellence. The faculty is strong, although sometimes you encounter conservatives who are difficult to argue with. It’s important to understand: no one will chase you. KNU teaches independence—if you don’t want to figure out a topic yourself, the system will simply weed you out during exams.

Among the downsides, I can’t help but mention the bureaucracy. Sometimes it seems like paperwork in the deans’ offices is an art form unto itself. Also, the condition of some dorms leaves much to be desired; renovations are long overdue. But if living conditions aren’t your top priority, the knowledge base and networking opportunities offered by Sheva outweigh these shortcomings. A university degree still carries weight with employers, and the friends you make here become lifelong supporters. This is a place for those willing to work hard for the future.

Opportunities and people that surround us

Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is one of Ukraine’s most prestigious and oldest universities, known for its strong academic traditions and high educational standards. It has a unique reputation, attracting talented students and researchers. The university offers programs in many different fields, ranging from law and philosophy, to even geodesy. I enjoy this university for many of reasons. I can be broad, and write a hundred, but here are the main ones: the opportunities that it provides to its students, the location of its campuses, the students that surround me, the high-quality education and especially, the student life, or more precisely, its quality. The level of overall friendliness, and activities outside the university curriculum inspire me. I can’t highlight anything bad about this university. Perhaps I would like to have more practice in real life cases, but who doesn’t? I think it’s more a problem of all universities across the world, and I believe that this one has honestly earned its place on their list. Professors know their subjects and can answer on all your questions during the lectures and seminars. They are surprisingly very kind and wise. I am sure if someone took me back a few years from now, I wouldn’t change my mind about the university that I choose. Not in a million different universes.

    education is important.

I’m not completely happy with my studies—university isn’t exactly what I expected. But it’s not like I had big dreams about it anyway. I chose this major because it was the only one that didn’t irritate me. Studying is interesting, and university is definitely useful for personal growth and making connections. But I enjoy working and doing my own thing much more. I’m not a fan of our system, so university doesn’t really impress me. Still, education is important.

    Good Intentions, poor execution

I’m in my 4th year at Kyiv National University of Taras Shevchenko, Institute of Journalism to be exact.

And I really enjoy my time here because we study so much relevant and diverse. But there is a but.

My program intends to graduate experienced professionals, which is an amazing on theory. On practice, you cannot do that without a solid preparation AND experienced educators.

Most lecturers had no idea why they are here and organization was on the lowest level possible. But it is a general problem across university.

Lecturers have alsot hard time getting into students’ shoes and struggle to get over bureaucracy.

Overall, I would really love to see this program relaunched with the right choice of lecturers and changed approach from a VERY theoretical one to more practical and applicable in job environment.
