Personal Statement – Mutebi Tendo
Process and Chemical Engineering Student | SPE Leader | Driven Innovator
I am a passionate and determined student of Process and Chemical Engineering at Kyambogo University, where I have actively pursued academic excellence, leadership development, and professional exposure in Uganda’s dynamic energy and engineering landscape.
My academic journey has been rooted in Kyambogo’s strong emphasis on practical skill acquisition, combined with hands-on coursework, internships, and close interaction with experienced faculty members. This foundation has so far prepared me well to engage in real-world engineering challenges.
Beyond the classroom, I have taken an active leadership role within the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) – Kyambogo Chapter, contributing to student mobilization, conference participation, and industry engagement.
While studying at Kyambogo, I have navigated the common challenges of limited infrastructure, limited exposure to the practical hands-on skills, substandard course content and off-campus accommodation. Nevertheless, these have shaped my resilience and adaptability. At the same time, I’ve embraced the vibrant community, mentorship opportunities, and spiritual support offered on campus.
I would recomend kyambogo university to students not because it the best but because of;
The academic push one gets
the exposure to industry professionals due to the increased number of events organized at kyambogo university
