METU is a wonderful university based upon its rankings as well as faculty. Professors and teachers from all over the world, graduating from leading universities make up the teaching force in this university. The campus is at a premium location in the heart of the city and is utterly gorgeous. As an international student, I do not face hurdles with the language in the student body as the rigorous English teaching system and prep school they offer prepares all students to be fluent in the language. The professors are ever warm and welcome to all inquiries, with few exceptions. While not rampant, it is possible to face discrimination from professors due to being an international student. Moreover, the ratio of international students to local students is quite low which could result in one feeling left out or out of place. I am currently the only international student of my batch in the department of Psychology.
Additionally, the housing provided by the university is not of high standards and neither is the common cafeteria meals. Curfew hour is also exercised which in my opinion undermines the students.
