Istanbul University is the oldest and most established university in Turkey. The institute where I did my Ph.D. in history is the first of its kind in Turkey. This institute offers only master’s and doctoral education. Since there are too many lessons taken in one academic semester, I do not think it is possible to get enough efficiency.
While some departments of the university are located in the area where it was first opened, faculties such as engineering, etc. are on a campus outside the city. I think this is a disadvantage. The quality of education varies from department to department. Unfortunately, the university is not in a good position in the world university rankings.
