When I first decided to study International Business at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, I had no idea how much this experience would shape me—not just as a student, but as a person. I was drawn to this programme because of its strong focus on applied learning and its international environment. I wanted more than just lectures and textbooks; I wanted to truly understand how businesses operate across cultures and be part of a dynamic learning experience. And that’s exactly what I found at Windesheim.

From day one, I realized that this wasn’t going to be a traditional university experience. The emphasis on practical learning meant that instead of just absorbing theory, we were immediately encouraged to apply our knowledge. Group projects, real-life case studies, and hands-on assignments became a big part of my academic life. At first, it was overwhelming—I wasn’t used to this level of independence in learning. It was a challenge at first, but looking back, I can see how much it helped me grow. I’ve learned to manage my time better, think critically, and solve problems on my own. And most importantly, I’ve learned that stepping out of my comfort zone is where the real growth happens.

Beyond academics, life at Windesheim and in Zwolle has been incredible. The university has modern facilities, a well-structured programme, and professors who are not just knowledgeable but also genuinely supportive. They don’t just teach; they challenge us to think differently and push our boundaries. The classes are interactive, and the discussions feel engaging rather than just one-sided lectures. It makes learning exciting and, honestly, fun.

And then there’s Zwolle—the city that quickly became my home away from home. It’s the perfect student city: safe, easy to navigate, and full of life. Everything is within biking distance, which adds to the charm of living in the Netherlands. The sense of community here is something I never expected but now can’t imagine living without. Whether it’s grabbing a coffee with classmates, exploring the local markets, or just enjoying the peaceful canals, there’s always something to appreciate about this city.

Of course, moving to a new country wasn’t without its challenges. At times, I missed home, my family, and the familiarity of my culture. There were moments of frustration when I didn’t understand certain Dutch customs or struggled to keep up with the fast pace of life here. But every challenge came with a lesson. I’ve become more adaptable, open-minded, and independent. I’ve made friends from all over the world, learned to embrace different perspectives, and gained confidence in my ability to navigate new environments.

Looking back, choosing Windesheim was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s not just a place to get a degree—it’s a place that prepares you for the real world, where learning goes beyond the classroom, and where you truly grow as a person. If you’re looking for an international, practical, and immersive business education, Windesheim is the perfect place to be. It’s been a life-changing journey, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
