at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences

As a first-year European Studies student at NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden, my experience so far has been quite mixed, but overall positive. One of the aspects I appreciate the most is the international environment. I am surrounded by classmates from many different countries, which makes discussions more interesting and helps me understand global issues from multiple perspectives. This diversity really adds value to the program and makes studying here feel relevant and engaging.

The campus itself is modern and generally a nice place to study, although it can feel quite crowded at times, especially during busy hours. Most lecturers are supportive and approachable, which helps when adjusting to a new academic system. However, my experience has also shown that there are some areas where the university could improve.

In particular, communication is not always clear. Information about schedules, assignments, and deadlines can sometimes be confusing or shared too late, which can be stressful, especially as a first-year student still getting used to everything. Administrative processes can also feel slow or a bit disorganized at times.

Overall, NHL Stenden offers a strong international learning environment and a solid start for European Studies students. With clearer communication and more efficient organization, the experience could be even better, especially for new students trying to find their footing
