    EHL: growth and opportunities

EHL was my first choice university from the very beginning. As someone from a multicultural background, I was naturally drawn to its international reputation and diverse environment, where I knew I could thrive both personally and professionally.

Now in my final year, I can confidently say that EHL has exceeded my expectations. I’ve developed strong foundations in hospitality management, marketing, and finance, and had the chance to explore areas that truly inspired me, particularly Real estate finance and international marketing. These courses deepened my analytical skills and confirmed my passion for the strategic and business dimensions of the industry.

Beyond academics, the collaborative projects, support from faculty, and the dynamic campus culture have all contributed to an incredibly enriching experience. EHL helped me grow not only as a student, but also as a future leader.

    EHL International hospitality management

My experience at EHL has been truly unforgettable. These four years have shaped me both professionally and personally in ways I never imagined. Academically, the program is demanding and well-structured, offering a solid foundation in business and hospitality. The classes are intense, but they push you to grow and develop valuable analytical and collaborative skills. The faculty is passionate and always ready to support students, which creates a very engaging learning environment.

Beyond academics, what makes EHL exceptional is the student life. There is an incredible range of opportunities, from joining committees and organizing major events like graduation galas, to representing brands such as LVMH and building a strong professional network through the Alliance department. Getting involved is not just encouraged, it’s essential, and every experience outside the classroom is a chance to learn and grow.

EHL also places a strong focus on practical experience, with internships and operational training that complement the theoretical knowledge we gain in class. You are constantly applying what you learn, in real-life projects, in group work, and in student life. It’s a school where you don’t just study hospitality, you live it every day.

For me, EHL is more than an academic program. It’s a place where I’ve built friendships, grown in confidence, and developed a clear sense of who I want to be. I am still not sure of what is next for me, but I know I am now part of a family, and I have all the keys!

    A university with lasting memories

I had many plans and dreams when I arrived at EHL Hospitality Business School almost four years ago. My goal was to one day open my hotel.
I started with the preparatory year (AP), which takes place on the Lausanne campus and includes around 20 different workshops, covering everything from cooking and service to housekeeping and reception. It was an interesting and formative experience. Divided into small classes, I quickly got to know my classmates, with whom I spent most of my time between classes, group projects, and free time. Most students choose to live on campus during their first year, which makes it easier to meet people and build a community. During the second part of the preparatory year, I did an internship at a 5-star hotel in Germany, aiming to improve my German. I did a cross-training program between housekeeping, the wellness centre, and the front desk. I could apply what I learned on campus in a professional, rigorous and friendly environment. I learned to work in a team and adapt to customer requests. This first year has taught me a lot and given me an overview of the jobs required in a hotel, which will help me to be a good manager in the future.
When I came back from Germany, I continued my studies in the French section. I studied new subjects that I found fascinating, such as accounting, Russian, and operations management. We worked on real-life examples during our classes, sometimes even in collaboration with companies. We organized our time between classes, tutoring sessions, group projects, homework, and revision.
We have around 30 committees on campus, allowing us to meet students from other years. For example, I have great memories of a “Murder Mystery Night” organized by the Spotlight committee.
During my studies at EHL Hospitality Business School, I also had the opportunity to join the Ambassador program, which has been highly beneficial. I get to give campus tours to prospective students and visitors, participate in the selection process, and help at events such as the Career Fair and the Open Day. These were unique networking opportunities. I was able to improve my English, my stress management, and, above all, my oral expression. I then did a second internship in a hotel in Washington DC, which allowed me to improve my English further and gain experience in administration. It was an incredible experience to compare the working styles of the two hotels where I worked and to learn to work in a different environment.
After my internship in the United States, I started a position as Student Assistant in the Sales Events department at EHL. I helped organize four Open Days, each welcoming around 1,200 participants. Thanks to this opportunity, I learned how to manage my time better and coordinate the schedules and training sessions of a team of around 70 Ambassadors.
During my final year, some of the courses were taught in English. For the last semester, I had to choose three courses to specialize in: Strategic Hotel Investments, Hotel Real Estate, and Mergers & Acquisitions. These were part of the finance module, consisting of seven weeks of intensive courses with challenging but formative projects.
I am currently working with five other students on our final bachelor’s project, which is a consulting project for a company.
I highly recommend this bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management, which has brought me a lot, both academically and personally.

    EHL Hospitality Business School

I think the program is truly excellent. One of the main reasons I chose EHL was because it offers the perfect blend of business, hospitality, and luxury. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, giving you a broad foundation before allowing you to specialise in your final semester. This structure ensures you gain both depth and breadth during these 4 years.

The classes are engaging, highly interactive, and usually involve group projects, which makes the learning experience very practical and relatable. The campus itself is stunning, with exceptional facilities that enhance student life.

What stands out to me in particular is the Alliance program, as well as the opportunity to complete two internships and work with a real company and their problems as an outside advisor. These internships and opportunities allow us to work directly with real companies, solving real-world problems, which means we gain hands-on industry experience up to three times before graduating.

Beyond a Classroom: Learn by Doing at EHL

I am currently completing my final semester at EHL, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management, which I believe makes this the perfect moment to share a genuine student review. To begin with, EHL’s Preparatory Year (AP) was truly one of the best years of my life. Although I am naturally more introverted, I was able to meet many people with whom I shared meaningful experiences, and who significantly influenced my personal and professional journey. Student life at EHL has been equally enriching. The wide variety of committees, ranging from sports to mixology, provided opportunities to explore new interests, networking, and develop soft skills outside of the classroom. I also had the privilege of enjoying the many facilities on campus, such as the semi-Olympic swimming pool, which allowed me to recharge and maintain a healthy balance between academics and well-being. Throughout my bachelor’s studies, each semester introduced me to new subjects and skills that built a solid foundation, allowing me to apply knowledge to specific industry sectors, such as Hotel Real Estate Development and Planning. At present, I am taking the “Strategic Hotel Investment” elective,an intensive six-weeks course, which enables us to work on real-life projects. Guided by Professor Pascal Bichon’s “learning by doing” approach, we work on weekly cases and present our work to industry experts, whose feedback supports continuous learning and improvement. Beyond the classroom, I was able to put theory into practice through two internships, which provided me with first-hand exposure to industry systems and operations, even before completing my degree. Overall, EHL has shaped me both academically and personally. It has been an invaluable experience, and if I had the chance to start over, I would do it all again without hesitation.

EHL Prepared Me for the Real Industry

I truly enjoyed studying at EHL and have never regretted my decision to choose this school. The journey at EHL has significantly prepared me for my future career in hospitality.

During the Preparation Year, students participate in numerous hands-on workshops on campus. One of the most memorable experiences for me was working as a waitress at the one-Michelin-star restaurant, Berceau des Sens. It was a rare opportunity to experience fine dining service at such a high standard within a school environment. The Front Office workshop was also extremely helpful, as it allowed me to become familiar with POS systems and operational procedures before starting my first internship.

Beyond the practical training, EHL’s networking opportunities played a crucial role in preparing me for the real industry. I secured my first internship through the EHL platform and had valuable networking experiences during Career Fair events, where I connected with luxury hospitality brands. Recently, I also received guidance from the Career Development team, who provided detailed feedback on my CV and advised me on my next career steps. As I am graduating in a few months, this support has been especially meaningful.

Once in a lifetime global experience

As a final-year student at EHL Hospitality Business School, I can genuinely say that my experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. It has not only exceeded my expectations but has also been incredibly insightful and transformative.

From the very beginning, what stood out to me was EHL’s strong focus on hands-on learning. This practical approach helped me truly understand how and why things work in the hospitality industry. The knowledge and skills I gained in class seamlessly carried over into my two internships, where I felt confident and well-prepared to contribute meaningfully.

EHL is more than just a university, it’s a global community. With students from all over the world and a diverse, multidisciplinary curriculum, we’re constantly exposed to different perspectives. This variety allows us to explore different areas of the industry and beyond, acting as a strong stepping stone to whichever path we choose after graduation.

Learning at EHL goes far beyond the classroom. EHL offers countless events, opportunities, and experiences that help students grow both professionally and personally. I’ve had the privilege of representing the school as both an ambassador and a class representative, roles that allowed me to be the voice of my peers and share my passion for EHL with potential students and external guests.

When I first arrived, I was shy and unsure of myself. Today, I’ve grown into someone more confident, open-minded, and unafraid to take on new challenges. EHL has played a huge part in shaping the person I’ve become. It’s taught me the importance of self-discovery, stepping out of my comfort zone, and embracing new experiences. And of course, I’ve made lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories along the way.

I would wholeheartedly recommend EHL to anyone considering a career in hospitality, business, or any service-driven field. If I could go back to my high school days, I would choose EHL again in a heartbeat. Thanks to the incredible support we receive, including from our career services team, I’m truly excited about what the future holds. EHL doesn’t just prepare you for a job – it prepares you to become a global leader.

    Expectation vs Reality at EHL

EHL offers a lot of opportunities. What I mean by this is that it starts from the big number of nationalities that you are going to meet on campus, which will turn into your good friends and business partners, moving on into your career path. Further, also the brands that EHL works with are very big names in their industry starting with the hospitality industry and moving on to finance and even healthcare. Throughout my studies I have benefited from guidance from staff inside these programs such as Student Ambassadors which has given me the opportunity and responsability to represent the school and has also put me in contact with firms of interest to me such as Lombard Odier. Moreover, the staff organizing the EHL committees have also been of great help in advancing my career as they have helped me learn how to organize myself and schedule an event, realizing all the things that I have to take into consideration as I was Head of Events in the Basketball Committee. Although, these opportunities are handed to us, I would not have had the knowledge and confidence without the well structured classes that complete the EHL foundation. Putting the biggest emphasis on our professors who are true professionals in the areas that they teach, each having an advanced career in the field or even managing their own companies around the subject that they teach. This means that they come and teach us out of passion and are willing to explain and share their knowledge with everyone, even giving advice on questions about the topic outside of class, and are willing to put time aside to have a conversation with you and answer any questions that you have. Overall apart from the lively campus life that fits and hobby and interest by organizing events on campus, optimal location by having the opportunity to stay in the heart of Europe, Lausanne, or heart of Asia, Singapore, EHL really offers a well rounded experience which makes every student say “it really has it all”.

    Strong Foundation in Hospitality

I studied in a school that offers the EHL program through an official partnership (In Suisse), and overall, it was a very positive experience. The EHL curriculum is well-structured, internationally recognized, and gives students a solid foundation in hospitality, business, and customer service.
However, since it’s not the main EHL campus, there are some limitations – for example, fewer networking opportunities, less exposure to international guest speakers, and some facilities that could be improved. Still, it’s a great and more accessible way to start your hospitality education under the EHL brand.

I would definitely recommend this program for students who are serious about hospitality but may not be able to attend EHL Switzerland directly. It’s a great stepping stone into the global industry.
