The Universitat de Valencia (University of Valencia), also known by the acronym UV was founded in 1499 by the previous request of James I the Conqueror. However, Its foundation was due to the favor of St. Vincent Ferrer and to the donation of a building by Mosen Pedro Vilaragut.Show more
The International Business degree has the main advantage of having to pass 48 credits abroad which means that you should stay a one-course year in another country to get the diploma. Moreover, it is a widely open field in which you can do so many different jobs from marketing director to financial and accounting or even become a global economist manager. Negatively, it has subjects of many fields as languages, maths or law which could be difficult as when you are studying you have so many areas to cover. About the student life in Valencia, I didn’t have a lot due to COVID 19 restrictions and our campus is quite little and only has with some coffees shop. Finally, the facilities are quite old and don’t cover all the students’ needs.
View moreThe campus is huge, which is great, everything is well explained and the staff is very helpful. The students and the teachers are all great and make you super comfortable, which is good and everything is great.
View moreI would change the study program, the way of teaching classes. I would prefer a more dynamic way. I would also like more information about the start of the degree and the different aspects.
View moreHaving the option to choose to do the course in the language you prefer was motivating, even though there were only three options available, being able to choose was still helpful because sometimes language can get in the way of enjoying what you learn. Same in exams, freely choose to answer in your preferred language.
View moreThere is great student life and atmosphere around the campus, and with a lot of opportunities to study abroad. The Economics degree itself is as expected so far, with all subjects very well related between them and quite a lot of math and practical lessons, although there are some heavy theoretical classes too!
However, the campus facilities are yet to be improved and they have been over a year under rebuilding.
Studying at the University of Valencia is a good experience and students can expect lectures and practise sessions at a good academic level. Teachers are usually demanding and give students homework and different types of group projects but they are developing and a bit challenging. The assignments forms and other types of grading are clearly explained in advance. If students have a problem, they can easily contact their lecturer via email and they respond in a very good time manner. Nonetheless, office hours are available too and this is a perfect opportunity to ask any questions and for help.
The only issue I would mention is how The International Office works. As an Erasmus student I couldn’t go to the secretary of my faculty but every issue I had to sort out at the International Office. Sadly, I was not the only student who was trying to switch modules or fill out documents. Thus, the queue and amount of time which I spent waiting for help or reply were extremely long. The communication was not easy either and it would be appreciated to have more instructions or more clear guidance on how to, for example, enrol for subjects.
My campus – Tarongers is located at a perfect point, it’s close to the city centre and there are no issues to find affordable accommodation nearby.
To sum up, I like studying at UV and I feel like I am gaining solid knowledge which will help in my future employment.
When I decided to study law back in 2017, I knew I wanted to do it in a public university. As far as I know, the University of Valencia cannot be considered a “bad” institution, but it is not a top institution either, in my experience.
A lot of technical work has still to be done since there is a lack of technology in the university overall.
When it comes to the professors, my experience has really been a mix, since I have found amazing professionals who really worth the effort to go to the classes, but I have also found so many other teachers that were not prepared at all.
In relation to the student life and the campus itself, there is a lack of variety: we only have 2 or 3 cafeterias, that are not well managed, and the campus itself does not have anything but the buildings with the classes and the mentioned cafeterias. Of course, we have a quite big library, which is quite convenient, but students, I think, would love to have more areas to work on and to chill.
View moreValencia is a really nice city to study, located at the Mediterranean, beautiful old town, lots of great places to eat and drink, great pleasure to start excursions on the Costa Blanca… If you come from abroad, you will love it!
The professors were good and all of my classes were in a small group, which was great. Nice buildings not too far from the sea, so you can bring your towel and go to the beach after classes.
I got my own accommodation outside the campus, which was nice and cheap, and great for immersion into Spanish life.
Best of this University is its campus location and the weather of Valencia, which, of course, is not provided by the institution.
90% of teachers in my degree are awful due to bad incentives and educational laws. Studying in Spain is not a guarantee of anything except enjoying the other things the country has to offer, but regarding education it is a mess.
View moreIn this university, I completed my own master’s degree in specialized emergency nursing care, Critical Patient areas and post-anesthesia. This is a complete master’s degree that focuses on several areas and gives you the possibility to learn and train in all these areas to be able to work in them. In general, it is easy and of little demand and being such an important area, there is a lack of greater need to help you train better and be a better professional in these areas. Although the syllabus is very broad and includes everything necessary to learn more about this subject. But, I also have to say that taking this master’s degree has opened many doors for me and has helped me find work in these areas and grow by getting better positions and greater stability.
