Hard to pass but good university

My general opinion about Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya is quite good. I started architecture and tried during 2 years in ETSAB (Higher School of Architecture of Barcelona) after realizing that my career as an architect wasn’t going to be a success (I was really bad with my drawings), I changed to EEBE (Engineering School in East Barcelona).
The main reason that made me choose again UPC over other universities, taking in account that I failed while trying to get a degree in architecture in this university, is because I think that the problem with architecture was me, not the education I was receiving.
In fact, I think the university is very good because it’s a demanding university, and at the same time, the teachers are very kind and reachable, most of them are willing to solve doubts outside lessons and really assist you if you’re having trouble to understand a concept or if you need more exercises to practice.
Something that it’s bad is that most subject have different exam’s calendar, so most likely you’ll have duty, exam, lab that will take place on each week, so you don’t have “relax time” during the semester.
Another problem that I find is the system to enrole to subjects. The only way to do so is by yourself, and the system has a lot of requirements on the computer, so you have to be sure the system will work before starting. This is very important because normally the spots in all subjects run out very quickly, so every minute you delay while doing the process could mean you no longer have a spot with the best teachers or best schedules.
In general, lab activities, materials and equipment could be fancier and newer, but the university has been working in the past two years to update all this and now you can start to see the effort they’re doing to do so.
To summarize, UPC is a good university, it’s well recognized by local, regional and national companies, as for international companies that operate in Spain. Most of their teachers are very good, both in research and teaching, and once you are used to their enrolment system it’s like every other technical school, you just need to study a lot to pass, but, isn’t this the purpose of university?
