My time at Universitat d’Alacant has been immensely rewarding, and I enthusiastically recommend this university to anyone seeking a top-tier education and a nurturing academic community. The university and its campus are located in San Vicente del Raspeig which is near Alicante. I like the campus because it is full with vegetation such as palm trees, lemon trees, flowers etc so it is green almost year round. There is one main library with a lot of books, a computer room, a few study rooms including one that is open 24 hours a day so students can study or just use the Wi-Fi connection anytime they want. In addition, each department has its library with specific literature. For example, in the Economics department, you can find books related to economics, econometrics, statistics etc.
Now a few words about the master’s program in Quantitative Economics. It is a good program – among top five such programs in Spain. The name of the program gives a cue that it is highly related to maths, statistics and econometrics, and it is a continuation of the bachelor’s program in Economics at the same university. So I would recommend it to people who like the aforementioned subjects and are prepared for some intensive courses starting from early September.
There is a computer room in the department called Latex adapted specially for conducting experiments, usually related to Behavioral economics. The room can also be used by master’s and PhD students for doing their daily workload or just for accessing the internet.
Among the most impending things to be fixed I would mention not the very good organization as a whole and, in particular, too many bureaucratic procedures that take time and dealing with all of them can be really frustrating.
As a conclusion, if you are well-prepared technically and think that economics is highly related to maths and stats (almost entirely on them), you may like the program.
