My experience at the University of Johannesburg has been both rewarding and transformative. I studied Public Management and Governance, and what stood out for me the most was how practical and well-structured the programme was. The content was relevant, the workload was manageable, and the university continuously ensured that what we learned aligned with real-world public sector challenges.
The lecturers were another highlight—they were knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in our academic growth. I appreciated how they encouraged critical thinking and independence, which helped me develop both academically and professionally. UJ also provides many opportunities for community engagement and volunteering, which added to my overall development.
Campus life was vibrant and diverse, and the environment felt safe and supportive. Access to resources such as the library, writing centres, and online platforms made studying easier. Like any institution, UJ does have areas to improve, such as administrative delays at times, but overall, my experience was positive and worthwhile.
I would definitely recommend the University of Johannesburg to future students, especially those interested in public management, governance, and information management. The university prepares you well for both the workplace and postgraduate studies.
