The University of Venda is located in a rural setting, which has pros and cons. On the positive side, the environment is quiet and not too busy, giving students plenty of time to focus on their studies. The downside is that there is very little to explore for fun. Most students at the university are local, and it is rare to find people from other provinces. This means there isn’t much diversity, and you might feel like you don’t fit in as someone from outside the community. It took me a while to adjust to this environment, but the advantage was having plenty of time to focus on schoolwork.

One of the highlights of my experience was getting close to a lecturer who recognized my hard work and good grades. She saw that I was struggling to adapt to the environment and would sometimes take me out for lunch to help me relax and enjoy myself. That support meant a lot to me.

I would recommend the University of Venda because, academically, it is well-paced. It’s not too fast, so you have time to adjust and keep up with schoolwork. It also allows you to learn about the local culture if you’re interested. Studying here taught me that life is not always about convenience or access to material things, it’s about being in a place that helps you reach your goals.
