I highly recommend NWU as it gives the best quality on setting papers and I like it because of the kind lectures that we have and they interact with us students while teaching and from first year on our first class they all welcomed and thought us what to do and not do.
View moreI love how contact classes are conducted because I learn a lot better than in online classes. The lectures are always available to help, it doesn’t matter the time and everyone I’ve met on campus including the staff they were kind enough to help me with anything including directions to classes since I didn’t know my classes at first. I love everything about NWU.
View moreThe university is very inclusive and has a dynamic culture which seeks to be beneficial to all. My only issue with the university was the fact that it’s Afrikaans dominant but overall it’s a great place to learn
View moreI had the privilege of attending the North-West University (NWU) for my undergraduate studies, and I must say it was an incredible experience. The NWU offered a perfect blend of academic excellence, research opportunities, and extracurricular activities that shaped me into a well-rounded individual.
Academics
The faculty was composed of experienced professors who were passionate about their fields. They provided guidance, support, and encouragement throughout my academic journey. The curriculum was well-structured, and the course materials were relevant to the industry.
Campus Life
The NWU campus was vibrant, with a diverse student body from various backgrounds. There were numerous student organizations, sports teams, and cultural clubs that catered to different interests. I was actively involved in the debate team, which helped me develop my public speaking skills and build confidence.
Support Services
The university offered excellent support services, including counseling, academic advising, and career guidance. The campus facilities, including the library, laboratories, and recreational centers, were well-maintained and accessible.
Personal Growth
My time at NWU was transformative, and I experienced significant personal growth. I developed essential skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, which have been invaluable in my professional life.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I highly recommend the North-West University (NWU) to anyone seeking a comprehensive and enriching educational experience. The university’s commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and student well-being makes it an ideal institution for students who want to achieve their full potential
NWU provides a great balance between academic freedom and personal growth, allowing students to navigate their paths. What I appreciate most about NWU is the support it offers, especially when I needed financial assistance, something other universities couldn’t provide. The lecturers genuinely care about the success of their students, even if that support sometimes feels inconsistent. I also loved how NWU allowed me to challenge myself through opportunities like short courses and the Tertiary Math Olympiad.
However, I dislike the noticeable difference between the Potchefstroom and Mahikeng campuses. Even though they’re part of the same university, it felt like they operated differently, especially in terms of exams. The Potchefstroom exams were much more challenging compared to Mahikeng, which created an imbalance.
Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at NWU and believe it provided me with a solid foundation in both academics and life. Yes, I would recommend NWU to others, as it offers a supportive environment with growth opportunities, especially if you’re willing to push yourself.
View moreStudying for my BCom in Quantitative Risk Management, with a focus on Actuarial Science, at North-West University was a pivotal step in my academic and professional journey. Having graduated in 2012, I want to provide a smart review for those considering this program at NWU.
The program offers a rigorous curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application. Courses cover a wide range of topics including risk assessment, financial modeling, and statistical analysis. This comprehensive approach equips students with the skills needed to analyze and manage risk in various industries.
One of the program’s key strengths is its faculty. Professors are not only experts in their fields but also actively engaged in research and industry practice. Their insights and guidance provide students with a solid foundation in quantitative risk management and actuarial science.
Another highlight of the program is the emphasis on experiential learning. NWU has strong ties to industry, providing students with internship and networking opportunities. These real-world experiences are invaluable for gaining practical skills and building professional connections.
The campus life at NWU is vibrant, with a range of extracurricular activities and student organizations. This creates a dynamic learning environment where students can develop leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and engage with the broader community.
All in all, studying for my BCom in Quantitative Risk Management, Actuarial Science at NWU was a challenging yet rewarding experience. It prepared me well for a career in risk management and actuarial science, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to pursue a similar path.
View moreOne of the standout features of this institution is its commitment to making education accessible and affordable. For certain courses, textbooks are provided to students, eliminating the financial burden of purchasing them individually. This is a huge cost saver, as textbooks can be quite expensive.
Additionally, if you are a bursary student, the book allowance can be used to purchase a high-quality laptop, which the university will procure on your behalf at a negotiated price with third-party providers. This is a fantastic benefit, as it ensures that students have access to the technology they need to succeed.
Furthermore, the campus is equipped with state-of-the-art computer labs that are available for use at any time. This is particularly convenient for students who may not have their own electronic devices, and the free unlimited wifi ensures that students can stay connected and access resources with ease.
I am thoroughly impressed with North-West University’s dedication to supporting its students. From the provision of textbooks to the laptop procurement program and computer lab facilities, it is clear that the university is committed to creating an environment that fosters academic success and inclusivity.
View moreThe university is a great place to be in, nice views and multicultural diversity. I only dislike the fact that Potchefstroom feels limited, not much to do here, anything you’ll need will be in your reach, the area around is safe. The professors are really supportive if you also play your part. The classes aren’t like in high school but you’ll adapt as time goes …
View moreThe university is a great place to be in, it’s safe and clean, there’s multicultural diversity.Everything is just in your reach as Potchefstroom is a relatively small town compared to other towns .Theres students supports from the school, the lectures play a huge role as long as you’ll play yours .
View moreThe University offers great support for our studies. The lecturers are amazing and always available for consultations. The only problem I have is that there isn’t enough overnight study spaces and the library is not 24 hours.
