Now, it’s been a while since I left in (2014), but I can share my experience with Public Administration at North-West University. Here’s what I remember:
Learning about government: The program covered how government works in South Africa, from local municipalities all the way up to national departments. It was interesting to see the bigger picture.
Focus on practical skills: We didn’t just learn theory. There were courses on things like budgeting, project management, and even public speaking, which is useful for any career.
Great professors: My lecturers were mostly people who had worked in government themselves. They brought real-world experience to the classroom, which made the learning relevant.
Can be demanding: Public Administration deals with important stuff, so the coursework wasn’t always easy. Be prepared to put in the effort, but it’s worth it!
I enjoyed my time studying Public Administration at North-West. It gave me a strong foundation for a career in government or even in the non-profit sector. Just remember, it takes some hard work!
