It is considered that generation Y is the generation with the most creative minds. Thus, millennials tend to express themselves through various forms, such as Art and Design.
Degrees in Art and Design aim to empower students to use art as a tool for self-expression. This degree is designed to develop visual perception as well as visual literacy. As a result, students gain practical skills in order to turn their imaginative ideas into reality.
Unlike many programmes, Art and Design courses improve students’ attention to detail, creative thinking, and freedom in the decision-making process.
Art and Design is a competitive industry. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to be equipped with the necessary skills to have higher chances of being employed in this field.
In general, graduates from this degree have a wide range of employment options once they finish their studies. The advantage of an Art and Design course is that you are highly employable for other industries too – there are numerous courses that would help to develop specialised skills for specific careers.
Some particular job areas include – apart from being an artist – community worker, fashion designer, graphic designer, illustrator, advertising executive, and multimedia worker. Many Art and Design graduates find themselves using their skills in marketing, media, or even teaching.
Art and Design degrees are part of Bachelor of Art (BA) Degrees. Courses’ structure and length depend on what type of programme you choose to study and the country where you choose to study. Usually, Art and Design courses are a three-year commitment, although there are countries – like the USA – where you need to study for at least four years.
The most remarkable aspect about this degree is that it emphasises the practical knowledge. Courses are often taught in studios, as a form of workshops. Additionally, students are assessed based on their portfolios of work, which may be exhibited to the public.
this course is not for the weak you will require alot of discipline and self motivation but as long as you work hard and stay up to date, you will be fine, definitely one of the best institutes in the country. Dont be an island talk to your lecturers regularly even if its on whatsapp just make sure you are always consulting them as they are always willing to help
View moreI had an amazing experience at the University of Johannesburg! The implementation of Artificial Intelligence has streamlined systems, making everything run smoothly. The lecturers at FADA are exceptionally knowledgeable and insightful. Campus life is vibrant and easy to navigate, with safety being a top priority. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UJ and highly recommend it.
View moreIt is a very big university with diversed culture and broad range of studies to look forward to. Lectures are taken very seriously. The campus is very big and interesting. Accoodates lots of people with many fields that you didn’t know of.
View moreAs most universities are multiracial. I don’t remember hearing about any cases of discrimination because UJ takes every case serious. From just insulting a person using slanderous words to bullying. There is no case that is taken lightly.
View moreI wouldn’t have chosen another university even if I wanted to. UJ is a phenomenal university that takes students seriously, I mean they do not condone any violence, cyberbullying, and plagiarism. I love this University.
View moreThere is so much that I love about this institution but what stood out for me is the support I got, one may think that since it is an educational institution only academic support is provided. But no, there is also emotional, psychological and also mental which is very relevant and quite helpful as one would not fully produce quality results if there were a problem in any of these above-mentioned spheres. University of Johannesburg also embraces diversity a lot and equips its students with so much information about diversity, a lot of different cultures is implemented in the institution and that leads to one leaving the institution well informed of how other people live, what is done in other countries. A lot of teachings methodology is infused with the aim to accommodate every student from all works of life. I would like to believe that no student feels left out when studying at UJ. The stuff at this University is also diverse and more young stuff which makes it easier for the student to relate and be free to express themselves. UJ has is big on making students happy and on freedom of expressions as students are given a chance to express themselves every now, in events such as the international day where international students get to inform SA students about how they live in their countries.
View moreThis university is very diverse. There are extremely educated lecturers that are always willing to assist students, along with the appointed tutors. I have enjoyed the greenery and calming atmosphere it provided when sitting by the grass and relaxing from all the assignments and classes. It is a great university for those that want to be well educated, do extra activities such as sports, art, etc.
