I will speak from my experience as a student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. According to university rankings, it is the best institution in Slovakia. Each faculty is located in different parts of the city of Bratislava. There are many study programs available (in English and Slovak). Some study programs such as Bachelor of Biological Chemistry and Environmental Studies are free of charge. However, there is a rigorous admission process to enter this university. There are a limited number of places offered in these two programs. Once you are there, you will feel welcome. The university provides accommodation in a nearby student residence. In my study program (Biological Chemistry) the lessons are in small groups and the teachers are very understanding. You can find students from many nationalities around the world. In my class, there are students from European countries (Slovak and other nationalities), Asian and Latin American. Many people speak English there, so it is not a problem if you are not fluent in Slovak. Each professor has a different type of teaching, but they will all be there to support you and give you advice. You can also have opportunities to study abroad, as you often receive email notifications about upcoming exchange courses at other European universities (in countries like France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, etc.). The university also offers an excursion (usually in November or December) to the Tatras region, where you can go as a group for a weekend and hike in the mountains. This is a great opportunity to get to know more about Slovakia. You can also sign up for physical activities every semester and choose from a wide range of sports: floorball, basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, archery, badminton, table tennis, and more. There you can also do sports activities with students from the neighboring university institution (STU University) so you can meet more people. The overall experience so far has been rewarding for me. I feel welcome here. I am happy to study at this great institution.
