overall, great experience but not entirely perfect. the English program of management with a specialisation in marketing is probably the best one from the similar programs in russia. the professors are all cool with good English, the workload is quite intense but bearable. if you study and do a least something, all is going to be good. student life is very very active but quite hard to combine with this particular program. one problem is the lack of logic in the subject sequence and their content, great opportunities for the internships and exchange programs <3
View moreThis program provided me with deep knowledge of Management and Marketing. The faculty gives an opportunity to participate in various exchange programs in different countries and double degree program in France,Germany or England.
The teachers are giving personal attention, expand your knowledge and letting you ask any questions, mentor you along the way.
The only disadvantage could be in the location at this current time, otherwise Moscow is a great student city full of possibilities. However, right now the situation is complicated in terms of finding a job in the international company.
Being a student of Plekhanov’ University for 4 years gave me a mixed variety of feelings and experience. On the one hand, the atmosphere of Soviet Academy (which it was beforehand) is still in the air, that feels through the rating system (20% attendance, 20% homework and only 20% coursework 40% exam), political censorship and teaching methods of very few professors.
On the second hand, University administration is doing their best in order to improve: new well-equipped classrooms, sports sections and library available, internships and international student exchange programmes provided.
Student life is a great point to mention – Plekhanov’ Student Union represents the biggest Student Community in Moscow, organizing more than 10 global (1000 visitors) projects and lots of extra-curricular activities on weekly basis.
Another advantage of studying here is the location – all of 9 buildings are situated in the same area (2 min from Dobryninskaya/Serpukhovskay metro stations), 15 minutes from Historical Center, 10 minutes from Gorky Park. The main dormitory is also 3 minutes walk from the Uni, the cost is around 8 EURO/month for a double bedroom. It is provided for highly-enforced and socially active students or internationals though. Other dorms are 25-30 minutes away from the University.
Exam sessions are taking their place 4 times a year, final research for a Subject chosen is required every year, half-year intership and exchange programm are at your own will.
To conclude, I would like to say Plekhanov Russian University of Economics is a perfect choice as long as you are motivated and concentrated to balance between class studies, self-education and networking.
