Moving from Africa to Poland for my Master’s in Management and Production Engineering was an adventure full of challenges and growth. The first thing that hit me was the cold—coming from a warm climate, I wasn’t prepared for the biting Polish winters. I remember the shock of stepping out into the freezing air, bundled in layers of clothing, and wondering how I would ever get used to it.

But the cold wasn’t the only thing that took getting used to. The culture shock was real. The people were reserved, and the food was so different from what I was used to. But over time, I learned to appreciate the simplicity of Polish life, from hearty meals to quiet, efficient public transport.

Academically, the program was demanding but rewarding. The mix of management theory and engineering practice offered a unique perspective that made me feel equipped to tackle the global challenges in both fields. The professors were passionate, and though there were language barriers at first, I soon found my footing.

Looking back, Poland pushed me out of my comfort zone, both academically and personally. It was a tough but transformative experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
