University of the Philippines - UPLB (reviews)

UPLB, being known for providing quality education without compromising student integrity has always been my dream school. Studying in this university allowed me to expand my horizon, all while getting the best of my degree program. The facilities provided me with on hand laboratory experiences, and the professors for each subject were no doubt credible professionals. Like any other students, I was continuously challenged, both academically and emotionally since I have to live away from my hometown. Nevertheless, I take this experience as a chance to build myself as an individual preparing to conquer the real world outside university, and I can proudly say that even at the most challenging times, I’m glad to call this university ‘home’.

As a top university in the Philippines, UPLB has a great teaching system that allows student to think logically and critically. On the other hand, more budget should be allotted on learning materials such as equipments and machines.

Human Ecology has been taught to be interdisciplinary and holistic because of its involvement in various fields of study such as history, anthropology, psychology, biology, sociology, and many more. Given that UPLB is the first in Asia to introduce it to rhe Philippines, it has three specializations: Human Settlements Planning, Social Technology, and Human and Family Development. Also food and nutrition courses are studies to understand how the said aspect affects the environment. The field work in Human Ecology is crucial for assessing the community’s needs and for immersing one’s self with the people in that particular area. I just hope that the courses would be more contextualized in the Philippine setting, especially with its involvement with the SDGs.

Making it to one of the most prestigious university in the country is not a walk in the park. Passing a five hour, right minus wrong exam is one of the things a student can be proud of. Not all have the privilege to study in the university, so one is very lucky once he is admitted in UPLB. Independence is mainly what I have learned in my 4 years stay in the university. I just do thankful for all that I have learned here. From the instructors, adviser, college secretary, classmates, blockmates, org mates, and even my roomates. Each and everyone of them greatly contributed to what I am, what I know, what I value and what I believe in. I miss walking under the trees going to my next class. I miss all the mouthwatering food you can only find in UPLB. Proven in Raymundo, sausage plate in Raymundo’s gate as well, Papu’s siomai and Mernel’s chocolate cake.

University of the Philippines is a top-notch university of the Philippines that caters to students from different walks of life. It takes a brain or high IQ to pass the university entrance exam. Once a student passed, he can enjoy the multi-cultural aspect of education in the university, use and avail access to the university amenities and most importantly, can avail the scholarship programs. A student can also choose from hundreds of bachelor degree programs. Here in UP, you get to know better the Filipino culture as well as the foreign. It is comprised of Filipino and exchange students across the globe. So you will be dealing with different culture and different perspective. To note, high-caliber professors are seated in each college so the quality of education meets the global or international standards. There are also numerous organizations which you can join. As a Filipino, it seems like you are studying in other country because students are liberated and intellectually awesome. You can enjoy student life in a very holistic way by balancing studies with recreation.
