The passion for technology can lead you to choose the specialisation of Computer Science. This field has become increasingly popular in recent years, the development being so rapid that people are trying to keep up with it.
A Computer Science degree deals with the theoretical and practical foundations of information technology and computers. The scientific part merges with the practical one in various algorithms, information processing or in computational models. This specialisation often aims to study methodological processes, making representations on a computer, storage, or accessing information.
At the same time, the study of Computer Science focuses on the learning of programming languages, which are extremely important for any student. Python, C ++, Java are just a few of the programming languages that are explored in depth by students in order to solve the applications received from the faculty. Furthermore, on the labour market, programming languages are highly appreciated and integrated, being a useful tool for optimal performance of industries.
The most important skill that young people learn following this degree is the use of programming languages. Once they grasp the logic of programming, they will easily be able to master the languages and build or develop WEB applications. Additional skills that are acquired can be: network design and engineering, software engineering, multimedia design. In addition, classical skills such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving or time management are also gained by students.
According to recent studies, 6 of the 10 best jobs chosen by graduates are linked to Computer Science. These include Web Design, Computer Support Specialist, IT Operations Technician or Database Administrator. Moreover, the employment rate is favourable to the students, being over 70%. Due to the rapid advancement of technology, it is expected that the supply will grow in the future, requiring computer science specialists in any field.
To study Computer Science, students can either pursue university courses or follow courses online, depending on their availability and income. Online or outside-university courses include disciplines such as: Information Systems Management, Game Programming, Web Development, Network Fundamentals. They usually have a duration of 2 years. Although these courses provide important skills in this specialisation, students may be disadvantaged when competing with a student who has a Bachelor’s Degree. Some of the most important campuses in the world include Penn State World Campus, University of Massachusetts, Lowell (The Division of Online Learning and Continuing Education), Saint Leo University.
The Bachelor in Computer Science lasts around 3 to 4 years, depending on the university. Throughout the programme, students acquire mathematical knowledge, theoretical and practical foundation in programming. Some of the subjects discussed are: Computer Programming, Data Structures, Databases, Algorithms, Linear Algebra, Probability Theory or Statistics. These vary according to the curriculum of the university.
A Master’s program complete the students’ necessary career skills. In this way, they have a greater understanding of computing softwares, tools, packages, and computer architecture.
There are Master programs that can be followed even by those who have not undertaken undergraduate studies in Computer Science, such as those offered at the University of Birmingham for example. These programs can take either 2 to 5 years.
A PhD program is especially dedicated to those who want to research or become university professors and can last between 4 to 5 years.
Punjab University is one of the best universities in Pakistan. Situated in the heart of Pakistan, it provides quality education to the young generation of Pakistan and contributes mainly to delivering skilled and educated resources to the country.
The program I was enrolled in was BBIT, which is a blend of Business and Information technology studies. Punjab University was the first to start this program in Pakistan in 2004. The faculty at IBIT is highly educated with practical experience in the software and business markets. The course outline is perfectly designed to cover both aspects. the university is also focusing on co-curricular activities. The main focus of the department is on both technical skills and soft skills to make students ready for the market for advanced fields. My overall experience at IBIT, Ppunjab University is excellent as it shaped and grromed me as a professional and as a student.
University of Punjab is a very big University in Pakistan. My experience it’s Really Good.
Classified Teachers and a Friendly environment is important for studies. Which is available in Punjab University. Going to this university was a very good experience for me.
The University of Punjab is one of the leading universities of Pakistan, due to its devotion towards students.
It builds and motivates their students towards their best future. It is a highly anticipated platform. It gives their students all the tools of survival through education.
I have done bachelor’s from Punjab University and in my consideration i think this university is great to learn. It gives allot of benefits to the students such as transportation facility at a very low price and goes all around Lahore. Food is of great quality and at a very low price you can enjoy swimming pool, gym, library is free of cost, playgrounds, and cafes to enjoy your break time. Teachers are very professional and knowledgeable. Security is really good at their work but sometimes there are fights between groups so, stay away from joining any group. Hostels are very good with many facilities. Overall it is great university, with many departments to learn and educate yourself with something you are interested in.
View moreIt’s very reputed & famous University but there are many flaws in the system as if someone have to do some kind of correction in any kind of documents it takes a lot of efforts to make it right as the people doesn’t pay attention to your issues.
View moreI have completed my intermediate from PGC and now I have got admission in Punjab university….

Very Good Environment for students because they are a good contribution to the industry. Competitive Environment for the Students. They are leaders in the industry. Staff is highly qualified and trained.
View moreI would say PU is worst university in terms of management specially IT department. Management specially exam branch people are so arrogant. They don’t listen to you at all. 99% they’re at fault but they won’t accept it. You will get your your transcript (result card) after one year atleast that will waste your one year because you can’t apply anywhere during that time. And if accidentally you get your transcript they will make sure you won’t get your degree early. Whether you apply on urgent basis or regular basis, process will take so long. They will say we have 2 campuses to manage that’s why process is taking so long. They will never attend your call. You will visit university again and again but nothing will happen to your work. Every time they will tell you a new story. I have worst experience in pucit(punjab university it department). I would never recommend punjab university until or unless you want to ruin your career.
