Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups, including the Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Ijaw, Fulani, Kanuri, Tiv, and Efik-Ibibio. The three largest ethnic groups are the Hausa in the north, the Yoruba in the southwest, and the Igbo in the southeast.
Languages
Nigeria has over 50 languages, including Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Fula, and English. English is the lingua franca.
Religions
About 50% of Nigerians are Muslim and 50% are Christian. Indigenous beliefs are often blended with Christian beliefs.
Culture
Nigeria’s culture is rich and diverse, with many different customs and traditions. For example, Ekiti Yoruba dancers wear heavy head masks for processional dances, while the Hausa divide their dances into social dancing and ceremonial bòorii dances.
