The educational system in Nigeria leaves much to be desired. My experience at The University of Lagos has been suboptimal at best. Never-ending strikes, outdated curricula, and a persistent lack of adequate teaching facilities have contributed to this. Although it is ranked as one of the best institutions of higher learning in the country, the teaching methods employed by the lecturers still have a long way to go. Students are not carried along during the classes and at the end of it all, they are given lengthy textbooks to read in preparation for examinations. It is exhausting and very detrimental to the mental health of the students. I do hope that improvements can be made in this regard especially as UNILAG turned 60 this year.
