The University of Port Harcourt (also referred to as Unique UNIPORT or UNIPORT) is a university in Nigeria owned by the federal Government. Located at Choba, Port Harcourt, the capital city of the oil rich state, Rivers State, the university is one of the best in the state. With about 16 faculties, the university covers a wide range of academic disciplines, from Medical sciences to Law, to Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, Education, Humanities, Management, Agriculture, etc. Onecan certainly get a degree in almost any discipline available to the Nigerian curriculum.

The school is ranked one of the best universities in Nigeria with an up-to-date infrastructural development, massive landscape and adequate available extra-curricular activities such as sports and entertainment.

The school has graduated over the years scholars which did exceedingly well in their various fields including doctors, lawyers, educators, entertainers etc.

Amongst other things, what really impress me about the school is how accessible and helpful their professor are to the students. Also how it provide an enabling environment for students who ventures into other endeavour like business, sports or entertainment to thrive while still at school. No wonder the Unique UNIPORT is also known as the entrepreneurial university.

University of Port Harcourt was/is an institute of learning and a great one at that,their method of lecture stood out with the unique characters of her professors and doctor especially in my faculty Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling where discipline and hardwork pays. I enjoyed Lecturers like Peter kpolovie because of the practical knowledge he impacts but dislike the fact that students challenges are not being considered.Other lecturer’s were great and considerate, making campus life interesting with supportive friends and administration.

UniPort has its strengths and challenges like most public universities in Nigeria. Academically, it has a solid reputation in several departments, especially in sciences, engineering, and education. Many lecturers are knowledgeable and experienced, and if you’re serious about learning, you can get a lot from the programs.

However, the system can sometimes be stressful. Administrative processes are often slow and not always student-friendly. Things like course registration, results, or clearance can be frustrating if you’re not patient. Also, infrastructure is a mix—some faculties have good facilities, while others are lacking.

Socially, the campus is vibrant. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, meet people, and grow outside academics. But like anywhere else, you have to stay focused and avoid distractions.

Overall, UniPort gives you the chance to grow academically and personally, but you need determination, patience, and a mindset to make the most of it despite the challenges.

University of Port-Harcourt is great school filled with social, religous and physical activities. It is a school that teaches more than the covers in the textbook and it is almost impossible not to learn. Not just academic learning, it goes as far as spiritual learning.
I fell in love with Uniport because of its trees and the peace it brings when school is in session and at its best when school is not in session . I wish most of the classes brought peace to my future, the state of the learning environment (classrooms) is not worthy to be seen and it seems like they are set on building structures that hardly benefits students academically.
I suggest a more practical method of admitting students they can effectively impact and account for, making provisions for students that are coming from far distance for post-utme exams (accomodation) or preferable make it an online exam, evaluating the quality of their lectures – it isn’t about the degrees alone but how they are positively making a difference.
However, i would recommend Uniport to anyone but you must not be faint-hearted to walk the pathways of that land.

It was full with ups and downs, a lot of challenges. But it was also fun, engaging with course mates, interacting with lecturers, even though some can be very annoying. I had the most fun connecting with my State’s national student association, Uniport branch. It was very fun and interesting going for meeting every Wednesday.

The process of teaching /lecturing with practical based field experience made my learning easy and seem less stressful and gave me space to find my purpose and the field I would like to further in,uni

The University of Port Harcourt is a higher institution of learning with an enjoyable learning environment with equipped facilities for learning processe and qualified lectures. I have gain a lot of knowledge both in theories and practicals.

The classes are coordinated and very educational, the lecturers are very persistent in helping us understand more about the course and doesn’t stop till we understand and do better. I enjoy the classes very much
