Attending this university has been one of the most impactful decisions I’ve made. I appreciated how supportive the professors were, always encouraging students to ask questions, collaborate, and grow beyond the classroom. The courses were practical and relevant, often linked to real-world challenges, which helped build my confidence and career readiness.

The campus environment was vibrant and diverse, making it easy to connect with people from different backgrounds. I especially loved the events that promoted creativity, networking, and entrepreneurship — they made the learning experience feel exciting and connected to the future.

While there were a few administrative delays, they were usually resolved quickly. Overall, I would definitely recommend this university to prospective students who value both academic growth and personal development.

What I Like About the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO):

2. Dedicated Lecturers: Many of the lecturers are knowledgeable and passionate about their fields. They are committed to helping students succeed, especially those who show interest and initiative.

3. Technological Orientation: As a technology-focused institution, FUTO provides a solid foundation in practical and theoretical knowledge, particularly for students in engineering, science, and environmental studies.

What I Dislike About the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO):

1. Infrastructural Challenges: Some facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, and hostels are not always well-maintained or adequately equipped for modern teaching and research needs.

2. Administrative Delays: Processes like registration, transcript issuance, and clearance can be slow and sometimes frustrating due to bureaucratic bottlenecks

My honest opinion is that it should provide more banking system for the students. I liked my time at the school because it helped me creat memories with lecturers, students and the environment. More securities should be provided and also provide adequate and reliable transport systems to help curb insecurity with using unauthorized system of transport is the school.

I joined this university unenthusiastically and for good reason. Poor facilities, lack of resources, and bad management result in both uninterested students and demotivated lecturers. Yet, the exams remain annoyingly difficult. However, a few lecturers (MTH 101 and philosophy) made learning enjoyable, and the diverse student body offered valuable interactions and experiences. The harsh climate also pushed me to grow in other areas. Now, I’m a software engineer while studying mechatronics engineering.

FUTO is among the top technology universities in Nigeria, known for its exceptional lecturers, well-equipped classrooms, lecture theaters, and quality learning materials. However, the hostel accommodations could use significant improvement, and the Engineering departments tend to prioritize theory over practical applications. The university offers a level of freedom that can be both beneficial and challenging, but the networking opportunities with influential individuals are unparalleled, as FUTO is their preferred institution for various programs. Despite its shortcomings, I would highly recommend FUTO as the leading university of technology in the country.

FUTO is a citadel of learning which opened up to discovering my potentialities. I built strength in tenacity towards solving problems. Especially the engineering school is one of the best facilities in FUTO. It comprises of so much competition.

My opinion is the school was good in educational activities but the manpower that is lecturers were bearly around. But it was ok generally we tried to navigate through it all. Yes, I will recommend the school to someone else because they try so hard to meet up with the educational practice in the world.

The classes are fine, and the lecturers deliver engaging talks. I value the way the teachers engage with the students as well. The accommodations are outstanding, and the amenities are superb. I like how rapidly the academic year goes by. The facilities at the school are well built and equipped. Life as a student is quite tough.

I like that they take engine drawing practice seriously. The land area is huge. But lacks enough buildings and machinery and equipment for students for most courses, especially in the engineering field. Most of the practical classes are actually not what they seem, with a class overcrowded with students and faulty and rusty practical tools and machines.
